Camp Eagle Meets Camp Pearl

by Alex Geurin | February 20, 2021 11:28 PM

The team drove all day and made it to Camp Pearl safely after dinner time! We had orientation, got settled in, and made some awesome posters for meal distribution tomorrow.

Afternoon Project at Camp Pearl

by Alex Geurin | February 21, 2021 11:19 PM

We wrapped up meal distribution at 2:30pm and headed back to Camp Pearl, where we got straight to work clearing a trail that leads to a ropes course. There were many fallen trees and branches from the hurricane, and in just a few hours the team had already made a HUGE difference. It’s super impactful to be able to invest in Camp Pearl as one of our partners!

Home Project #1

by Alex Geurin | February 22, 2021 11:25 PM

Today we began our first home demolition project in partnership with Operation Hope. This is a continuation of work that was started with a previous PPM team, which is an awesome opportunity to walk out long term investment in the community. Due to water damage from Hurricane Laura, many walls and ceilings have to come down to make the home safe again.

Here Bre, Parker, and Zane are doing some drywall tear-down!

Home Project #2

by Alex Geurin | February 24, 2021 10:04 PM

On Tuesday, we began working on Mrs. Montgomery’s house after finishing up the first project. Here we had the opportunity to meet her as well as spend time with her nephew who worked alongside our team on demolition and clean up.

This home endured substantial water damage to the point of needing to be completely stripped down. Mrs. Montgomery was overwhelmed by how much of a blessing it was that Operation Hope connected us to her! The work our team finished in 2 days will help them start the rebuilding process much sooner.

Doing some final clean up before closing out our final work day of the trip! Our team worked really hard and kept a positive attitude throughout the workday— Mrs. Montgomery’s nephew even spoke about how blessed he was by the team’s energy and mindset.

Investing in the Community

by Alex Geurin | February 26, 2021 9:37 AM

In addition to home projects, throughout the week our team was able to shop for and bless 10 families with groceries. In doing this, we lifted a load off the local Pastor and church team, and got to be representatives of the church. It was an amazing opportunity to show the people we visited the heart of God and that the church cares for them! Our team was equally impacted by the positive and generous spirits of each person we visited.

Rec Day at Holly Beach!

by Alex Geurin | February 26, 2021 10:03 AM

Our team had a well deserved fun day at Holly Beach Thursday, which is about an hour south of Lake Charles. We enjoyed hanging out together, walking along the shore, collecting shells, playing spike ball, football, and lawn darts. As the day winded down, we stopped in Lake Charles for ice cream, then came back to Camp Pearl for Jambalaya!
