Prayer Strike with Pastor Joyce

by Mark Nolden | April 14, 2024 7:14 PM

After worship Pastor Joyce took us on a prayer strike in downtown Memphis.

Our first stop was Auction Street. Pastor informed us about the history of this location.   We then prayed for healing and reconciliation.   We also prayed for an end to present day human trafficking.

Pastor Joyce took us to the site of the Memphis Massacre.  We prayed for empathy and for healing for the residents of Memphis.  Our hearts break to hear the stories that are part of this community's history.

On Sunday afternoon we visited the Crystal Shrine Grotto.  This is the only man made crystal cave in the world.   It contains beautiful sculptures in wood and stone depicting the life of Jesus.

Mid South Food Bank in Memphis

by Mark Nolden | April 15, 2024 2:17 PM

Monday morning we packed boxes of food at the Mid South Food Bank.   In the 31 counties served by the Food Bank there are over 400,000 people suffering from food insecurity.   We packed food for the Food Banks Door Dash program.  Door Dash will pick up the boxes we packed to distribute to individuals who are unable to leave their homes to pick it up.  We packed 332 boxes this morning!

Meals on Wheels

by Bonita Nolden | April 16, 2024 1:05 PM

Today we were blessed to deliver food, prayer, and songs to senior residents of Memphis by partnering with the Metropolitan Interfaith Association.   This organization delivered 737,000 meals to 4500 seniors last year, and this food helps them stay in their homes and independent.

Serving Dinner at Calvary Rescue Mission

by Mark Nolden | April 17, 2024 7:11 AM

Tuesday evening we served the evening meal to the men at Calvary Rescue Mission in downtown Memphis.   Our team made a delicious spaghetti dinner and awesome desert for over 60 men.

Calvary Rescue Mission brings the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those in need while providing temporary shelter, food and clothing.  Last year 813 men made decisions to follow Jesus Christ.

Chapel at Calvary Rescue Mission

by Mark Nolden | April 17, 2024 4:50 PM

After dinner at Calvary Rescue Mission we attended the men's chapel time.  During this time we witnessed the graduation certificate presentation to several men who had completed the Discipleship 1 class.  We also sang hymns, prayed, and our team presented our puppet shows.

At the end of chapel 7 men prayed to accept Jesus as Lord of their lives.

Memphis Athletic Ministries

by Mark Nolden | April 18, 2024 8:25 PM

Wednesday afternoon we presented our puppet shows to a group of young people at Memphis Athletic Ministries.   The Christian virtue based puppet shows were definitely a hit with the kids.  They eagerly joined us in the songs and wanted to see the puppets up close after the shows.
