Praying Pelican Missions exists to build up, encourage, and assist the local Church, and that includes doing so in a church’s greatest time of need. When disasters strike, the Church is on the front lines of response and relief efforts, working with local authorities and organizing grassroots efforts to meet the pressing needs of their communities. Praying Pelican Missions is committed to coming alongside these efforts, providing the necessary resources, support, and help to advance the work of our local partners.
Praying Pelican Missions has supported church partners through numerous natural disasters including hurricanes, flooding, and earthquakes. Through the generous donations of our network, we meet the physical needs identified by our partners on the ground. Throughout the recovery process, PPM also provides support through our volunteers that provide countless hours of debris cleanup, rebuilding, roof replacement, food distribution, prayer ministry, and more.
Serving In Belize July 7, 2012 Community: Orange Walk Staff: Mike Korth
We made it
by Mike | July 7, 2012 4:20 PM
We've made it to Belize safely and soundly along with all of our supplies and luggage. After lunch at the park, we took a tour of the city and spent some time at the children's home. We'll make our way up to Orange Walk this evening and have supper at the college where we will be lodging this week. We'll be sure to take and post a group picture as soon as we are able - we were hoping take a picture at the park, but weren't able with the pouring rain this afternoon.
Thanks for your prayers for safety and wellbeing. Keep them up!
First Couple of Days
by Mike | July 9, 2012 11:25 AM
The last few days have been pretty great. We are experiencing a lot and learning a lot about ourselves in the process.
Yesterday we had the opportunity to join in and lead two worship services. In the morning, we were all together at the AOG Church here in Orange Walk and last night half of us had the chance to worship in San Pedro at the Full Gospel Church.
We spent the majority of the afternoon visiting homes in both communities yesterday, inviting the children to our VBS program this week.
This morning we are painting, plastering, and tying rebar. We have our first session of VBS this afternoon.
Construction at Orange Walk

Today half the group worked at Orange Walk at Pastor Manny's church. We painted and helped rewire the electrical system before they were able to finish their ceiling.
VBS at Orange Walk

After construction we lead the kids in VBS. We had over 73 children attend today and our church was overflowing. It was amazing to see all the beautiful faces of the children as they sang along with the worship team, made crafts, played outside and listen to the lesson for the day. We had sooo much fun today with the kids and look forward to another day with them tomorrow.
Construction at San Pedro

Today we worked on rebar for the construction of the church roof. It was hot work but we got sooo much done.
VBS at San Pedro
by Michelle | July 9, 2012 9:40 PM
After construction we were able to hang out with the kids of the community. We held VBS and worshipped, did crafts, played outside, and listened to the lesson for the day. We memorized Romans 8:23. It was so exciting listening to all the children reciting their memory verse for the day. Cannot wait to see them again tomorrow.
Final Day
by Mike | July 11, 2012 11:05 AM
We are cranking it out today. There is a lot to be done in both locations, so we are putting the pedal to the metal in both Orange Walk and San Pedro and trying to get as much done as we can before we head out of town tomorrow.
At the AOG Church in Orange Walk, we are painting the interior of the church while a few skilled workers finish up the cement plaster on the ceiling. We will host our final VBS this afternoon for the children.
The other half of our team is working in San Pedro today - wrapping up as much as we can on the cement supports for the roof of the church. It's a big project and we are excited to be a part of it. We will also host our final VBS this afternoon.
Tonight we will have an opportunity to have closing services in both locations. Saying goodbye will be tough as it has been an amazing week full of surprises. The experiences we've had here will stay with us for a lifetime.
