Update from First Baptist Church Richmond
First day of ministry

by Brian Zeschke | April 6, 2011 11:06 AM

Today we spent the entire day at Buckingham Baptist Church and we didn't waste any time getting down and dirty. First we spent a few minutes taking a quick walking tour of all the areas we'll be serving this week, but then it was straight to work. We are preparing the basic school (which is run by the church) for an addition to the building which will give them some extra bathroom space and some showers. So today we dug the footers (foundations for the columns) and tied the steel that will make up the foundation and columns. The ground wasn't UNforgiving, but it could have been easier. Also we were repairing a drainage ditch next to the education building. We built a rock wall and filled in the space with dirt so it can be landscaped in the future. Long day of work and we were all exhausted by the time dinner was ready. After dinner we joined in the youth fellowship at the church. It was great to join in their fun for the evening. We had "sword drills", played some sort of alphabet song game, and the team was persuaded to join the local youth choir for tomorrow morning's service. So a little practice was in order. Ended up being a very long first day of ministry! Tomorrow we head back to Buckingham for a day of church and fellowship. Thanks once again for your prayers!

Steve Coleman, Minister to Youth, FBC Richmond, KY

We completed our first mission trip to Jamaica with PPM. Our graduating high school seniors first trip of this type during Spring Break was a success. Our students were challenged to be flexible and do whatever it takes to influence others for the kingdom. Our contact with PPM was on the ground and ready for us when we arrived. The experiences that we had will be unforgetable and God moved in our lives in a mighty way. Prayerfully we will rest up about 50 weeks and come again. Praise be to God for Bryan, Glendon, and Naciena who helped us make our dream of being on the mission field a wonderful experience.

We are so excited for you and the team! Congrats on making it there in one piece . . . we see God's hand at work in this already! We will continue to pray for you and the team, that God will allow you to fulfill needs, while he fulfills your own. We love you! Barry, Christa, Sula, Rachel, and Kaitlyn :0)
