We arrived last night and settled into our rooms. Today we are ready for church on this beautiful morning and we are excited to begin our week!

Our group is attending Church of Our Savior in a local Pittsburgh community, Northview Heights, led by our awesome partner, Pastor Diana! Very excited to start this week off with some great worship!

Our group is out in the community garden at Northside Common Ministries bringing much needed color to some banners, benches and garden boxes that haven't been painted in years!

Before we start our Day 2 of painting, we got a tour from the awesome man who runs the ministry, Jay, and we were able to watch a Pittsburgh-made video about homelessness centered around Northside!

Today we got the privilege to clean one of the most historical churches in America! Calvary UMC! Did a great job, and maybe had a little fun too! Maybe too much fun, maybe someone found a banana suit! This group is having a blast so far!

Wonderful to see so many great things were done. So proud of you all. Know that you all had a real lasting impact this week. The Lord uses everything we do. So the works you did this week either planted the seeds for the future, Watered or nurtured a young faith, or you even helped reap a harvest! Which ever it was it was done for the Glory of the Lord! I'm green with envy that you get another day to be a lantern, shining God's light upon the city of Pittsburg. May the name of Jesus ring well today in the ears of those you speak it to. I wish I could join you, but for some reason all the Pitt sports teams have yellow in their color schemes, and I'm not a fan. God's peace be with you.

Glad to see you made it safely. We will be praying for your trip and will miss you tomorrow night and be a little jealous that we are not with you serving God in the mission field. I pray that God uses all of you in ways that you never thought were possible...Don't forget to journal! It truly is a great experience even for us non journalist . Welcome to Pittsburgh. It's no Gotham, but it can still be rough so watch your back. Follow you leaders. They're awesome. Eat you vegetable. Except beets. You don't need to eat those. Pray. Do some sit-ups to work your 9 pack. Pray some more. Get some rest. Tomorrow you begin kicking the devil's butt. Just watch out for his sharp pointy tail. Look over there!!!
