On the road!

by PPM Staff | June 27, 2010 2:23 PM

Our flight was delay by about an hour, but we went through the Kingston airport smoothly and met Amy outside. Our team is currently traveling to Old Harbour Bay by a "coaster" bus that seats up to about 29 people. You can find these coasters all over the country as they're a primary means of transportation with taxis. Tonight we'll have a small group (just our team and our PPM leader Amy) orientation and we'll have a large group orientation and worship time. At 6pm we're expecting to be a part of a Jamaican church service and tonight we'll settle in as we prepare for our first night in Old Harbour Bay, Jamaica! Tomorrow will be our first of four days spent with the Baptist Bay Basic School and working on tearing down the old Basic School building. Pray for our team as we begin our week of work for the Lord!

Monday

by PPM Staff | June 28, 2010 9:05 PM

Our first day and a half of ministry has been great. We've had a chance to experience a couple of Jamaican style church services including a special music service last night and a youth fellowship service tonight in which not only were we involved but our other team led aspects of the evening as well. Our time at the school was good this morning, we actually found ourselves at two different schools so we've made some adjustments and we'll be fully prepared for tomorrow. We tore down some walls today at the basic school in Old Harbour Bay and will be doing more of the same tomorrow, and using a jack hammer! Our team is safe and healthy. We're glad that Jessica and Anna arrived today safely and they've settled in well. We're looking forward to tomorrow and a visit to a local historic castle tomorrow night. Wednesday Morning!

by PPM Staff | June 30, 2010 7:53 AM

Yesterday we had another good day of connecting with the children at the Baptist Bay Basic School and the Prophecy Basic School in Old Harbour Bay. It's stretching for our students to minister to and spend a lot of time with the young kids, but we're all surely growing through the experience. We were able to tear down nearly all the walls of the Baptist Bay Basic School and we plan to finish our part of the project today by eliminating a few final beams and cleaning things up. This will allow Mr. Dixon (our workman) to continue with the reconstruction of the school building once we leave. We're looking forward to another great day of ministry! Thanks for all your prayers from back home!

School building destruction

Our team tore down half of a school building over the course of the last three days. The building will be rebuilt in the future months in order to assist the Baptist Bay Basic School.

Our Last Couple Days

by PPM Staff | July 3, 2010 3:43 PM

Thursday we finished our time at the Baptist Bay Basic School and the Old Harbour Bay Prophecy Basic School. It was a blessing for the children and especially the teachers for us to spend time with the kids during the week, and of course we loved it! The school building is torn down and ready to be rebuilt and Mr. Dixon was a big help in making sure things went well. On Thursday we visited an infirmary in May Pen, about thirty minutes away. There, we spent time with some of the 130+ residents who live at the facility due to lack of family or people around to take care of them. It was an impactful experience that most of us will never forget. Friday we enjoyed our time in Ocho Rios at Dunn's River Falls. We also were able to shop, swim, and relax before our team debriefing and final dinner overlooking the carribbean ocean. It's been a great week and we're on our way home today! Thanks for everything to everyone who has supported our mission team! God bless you, see you soon!
