All in the family

by Lana Thomas | July 26, 2015 6:00 PM

Today the team had the opportunity to worship alongside some of their Hispanic brothers and sister during Sunday school, songs and a sermon. The speaker had went through 1 Peter 1. Followed by a fellowship cook out. During that time they got to chat with some of the congregation and play games with the kids (who knew tag and hide and seek could be so fun yet hard!). After the majority of the church had left we went out into the community to invite children to our VBS. Allowing the team the opportunity to meet some of the potential children, along with families of the neighborhood. During this walk we came across a church throwing a fiesta (party). We got some delicious ice cream from Azucar, and enjoyed the Spanish music they were playing. Today was a day of learning more about out church partner, and has prepared the team well for what the rest of the week will hold!

Colossians 3:23

by Lana Thomas | July 27, 2015 5:20 PM

This morning the team went out to Cornerstone Community Outreach (CCO). It is one of Chicago's most unique homeless shelters in the fact that the are able to accommodate whole family units. The team was able to help carry some children's furniture down four flights of stairs to a loading area for it to go out to families in need. They also had the opportunity to work alongside a fellow PPM team in organizing and sorting clothing for CCO's 100% free thrift store. They worked hard and gave all glory to God. It was a humbling experience for us all. The day still isn't over; we are anticipating the fun and joy that VBS will hold tonight!
