Sunday Morning Fellowshipby Liz Drennan | June 9, 2014 9:53 PM
Our trip started Sunday morning at Haitian Evangelical Baptist Church. We met Pastor David, our host pastor for the week, and then went into Sunday morning service. Service in the church is held in Creole and French, so it was definitely a different experience for us. Some of us sat by church members who helped translate some of the words being spoken, so we were able to have an understanding of what was happening. Pastor gave a great message in English called "Kingdom Business." He talked about the importance of going on missions and winning souls for Christ. After church we had a delicious lunch prepared by some of the ladies of the church, and did some VBS prep for our week. We then headed back to our hotel to rest for our week of ministry.
Yes to VBS!by Liz Drennan | June 9, 2014 10:01 PM
This morning began our week of VBS with the kids at church. Shortly after we arrived this morning, the power went out. But we continued with VBS in the dark! Even though it was hot, and the situation was difficult, we came together as a team, and were able to see that "Everything is possible with God," which is one of the verses that we are teaching the kids this week. We loved getting to know the kids, and spend time with them doing crafts, playing games, and most importantly, teaching them the Word.

The kids here at church love to play! Games were a favorite of a lot of the kids at VBS.
Busy at Work. by Liz Drennan | June 9, 2014 10:09 PM
Some of our guys are bust at work building a 9-Square in the Air court for the kids here. Some of the guys from the local church even joined in and helped us work. We are so excited to be able to share one of our favorite games with them, and leave it behind for them to enjoy long after we leave.
Working Togetherby Liz Drennan | June 10, 2014 8:56 PM
We started our day with a wonderful worship rally, and the kids really responded to the songs. The guys finished the nine square game and the kids had fun. While the kids were playing, we also started building the new basketball court. The local kids help us dig holes where the new hoops will go. We can just imagine the looks on the kids face when the court finishes.
A coconut Momentby Liz Drennan | June 10, 2014 9:45 PM
We were playing outside with the kids and decided to a break. One of the church members brought us some coconuts. While drinking the coconut water we also ate the inside part of it as well. Although it was a hot day, we had a blast drinking out in the sun.
Creole Lessons!by Liz Drennan | June 10, 2014 9:54 PM
We had a great time eating the haitian food. We loved how they prepared it. We also learned a few words in creole such as; sak pa se and nap boule. The Pastor showed us how to say the words and we all took turns telling him the words. Overall we enjoyed the new culture experience.
