Arrived in Bradshaw, WV

by Mark Lott | September 23, 2022 9:39 PM

After driving on some crazy, winding, narrow mountain roads we safely arrived at our host church, the Bradshaw Church of God. We are staying in a house that was previously the church parsonage.

Once we unpacked and settled into our rooms, we had dinner at a local convenience store that offered both Subway sandwiches and Godfather pizzas. After eating we returned to our lodging site and shared together in an orientation time. This was special since all of our team had previously worked with our team leader, Mark Lott. There was much laughter, many stories shared, fun discussion of Scripture, and prayer.

Tomorrow we begin our ministry work. We look forward to what God will do in us and through us!

Saturday

We began our work by serving with the Crystal Block Church of God in Virginia. The church's fellowship hall was heavily damaged during recent flooding. Today we started the tasks of painting the ceiling and hanging wallboard. The church is comprised of mostly Sr. Adult members who could not do the repair work themselves. Pastor Joey Profitt repeatedly told us that our team was an answer to many prayers. What an awesome thing that God allowed us to be His answer to the prayers!

Sunday

by Mark Lott | September 26, 2022 8:01 AM

Today we had the wonderful experience of joining our host church, the Bradshaw Church of God, in Sunday School and worship. It was a powerful time of worship and hearing the Word preached powerfully.

After lunch, we participated in several work projects. One part of the team replaced the carpet in a stairway. Another part of the team painted a classroom that will be used as a nursery area of the church. It's exciting to see church growth and the need for an area to care for children of the young adults who are coming.

We also were able to move some heavy items for a church family. The lady is the Missions Coordinator for the church. She is responsible for making sure the house we stay in is ready and for helping secure work projects.

Our day was both meaningful and productive.

Monday

Again today we worked at the Crystal Rock Church of God. Pastor Joey Proffitt was very helpful as we worked in the church he pastors. He continuously shared with us that we were answers to prayers of his and the church. It is a powerful thing knowing God used us to answer prayers prayed by the people here.

Monday Wall Panels

by Mark Lott | September 28, 2022 9:04 AM

Our team was able to finish paneling the wall and hang fluorescent light fixtures. The church can now add the plumbing and other necessary work to restore the fellowship hall to be able to be used again after the flood devastated the interior of the building.

Monday French Drain

by Mark Lott | September 28, 2022 9:09 AM

In order to keep water from seeping into the building after it rains, we installed a French drain around the fellowship hall. This will help protect all the work that has been done to this building.

Monday Frame Build

by Mark Lott | September 28, 2022 9:13 AM

Pastor Proffitt asked if our team could build a frame around a small wall air conditioning unit inside the church. Mr. Gene Moore easily accomplished this task, with the help of Hayley Nichols.

Monday Shutter Hang

by Mark Lott | September 28, 2022 9:16 AM

The church wanted to install shutters adjacent to the outside window and the front door. We were able to accomplish this task for them.

Monday Underpinning

by Mark Lott | September 28, 2022 9:23 AM

The final project the church requested was replacing the underpinning around one side of the church. The underpinning from this side was washed away during the flood.

We are so grateful that God used our gifts and talents to honor Himself as we served the Bradshaw Church of God and the Crystal Rock Church of God. What a great trip it has been and we praise the might power of God who was with us every step of the way!
