We've Here And Ready To Serve

by Gene Bracken | August 7, 2022 12:16 AM

We made it to Graves County, Kentucky!  We are so excited to get to serve this community.  Tonight, during our Team Orientation, our Trip Leader, Gene, shared a devotion from Matthew 9.  He asked us to picture our friends, who may not know Jesus, standing together in a field - much like the people Jesus saw.  Gene asked us why we were here.  Then told us it was because people had prayed to the "Lord of the Harvest for more workers."  God had sent us here, as an answer to those prayers!  How exciting to think that we are an answer to prayer!

Having A Little Fun

Serving on missions is also a little fun!
Having A Little Fun

That’s a Lot of Toys!

by Natalie Wych | August 9, 2022 9:19 AM

This morning some of us got to work with the Dream Center! It is a new organization that provides basic needs and comfort items for families affected by disasters.

We worked in their warehouse to palletize items that are being sent to help those affected by the flooding in eastern Kentucky! It was so cool to see the behind-the-scenes of the distribution process!

What Next Chef?

by Natalie Wych | August 9, 2022 9:24 AM

Some of us got to work with Chef John at Mercy Chefs to cook up delicious food to feed hungry individuals! We prepped and cleaned and even took down beds that are no longer being used by volunteers! We jumped in wherever needed to get the job done!

At the end of the day, we plated the food for distribution, but before we closed the lids on the first plates, we prayed over the food and the person who would receive it! Seeing chef John’s love for the Lord and sacrificial service is very motivating for our work this week!

Wow, That’s Heavy!!

by Natalie Wych | August 9, 2022 9:33 PM

This morning some of us got to go to Community Fellowship Baptist Church and help sort through some of their items for distribution. They have a diaper and formula ministry and we got to complete some behind-the-scenes work for them! The boxes were very heavy to carry upstairs, but we know that our work will benefit dozens of babies!

How Many More Can there Be?

by Natalie Wych | August 9, 2022 9:37 PM

In the afternoon of working at Community Fellowship Baptist Church, we worked hard to move pallets of diapers out of a connex container and into a different one! It was hot and hard work, but it had to be done, so why not jump in and do it? There are so many diapers that we moved and even more left to be moved, but we are happy to help how we can!

Lending a Helping Hand

by Natalie Wych | August 9, 2022 9:38 PM

After dinner, we all jumped in and helped clean up and do the dishes! It was cramped in the kitchen with all of us helping, but that made it fun!

RAIN!!!

by Natalie Wych | August 9, 2022 9:40 PM

During our worship time tonight, it started pouring down rain! We went outside and jumped in puddles, ran around, and slid in the grass! We got soaked and muddy, but it was such a cool way to experience God’s great world and His creation!!

What a Grill!

Our host church has an amazing rotisserie smoker/grill!  They allowed us to use it Monday night for some great hamburgers and hot dogs!

Praying For The City

by Gene Bracken | August 9, 2022 11:45 PM

Sunday afternoon, we were given a tour of some of the area affected by the December tornadic storms.  Our Trip Leader explained that there has been a lot of work to clean up after the tornado.  But, it still was pretty shocking to see the damage.  Afterward, we went to a small park and prayed over the city, for the local pastors, government leaders and those helping to rebuild Mayfield.

Cooking Up a Storm!

by Natalie Wych | August 11, 2022 5:32 PM

Yesterday at Mercy Chefs we worked hard to cook up well over 200 plates of food for community members! We got to taste all the dishes multiple times! We loved getting to see Chef John’s heart and his method of ministry which is food!
