Welcome to Alaska!

by Alissa Danielson | June 12, 2022 2:27 AM

After months of preparing, we have finally made it to Alaska! Our flight landed early in the morning, so we were blessed to sleep at a hotel for a few hours before our PPM staff picked us up for lunch at Arctic Roadrunner. We had the options of various types of burgers (including halibut and salmon!). It was delicious. After lunch, we visited souvenir shops downtown and then started the journey to Soldotna!

Welcome to Alaska!

A Gorgeous Adventure!

by Hannah Jobe | June 12, 2022 3:12 AM

Today we drove down to our host church in Soldotna! The drive to Peninsula Grace was absolutely breathtaking! We are so in awe of God and His masterpiece! What a way to start the week!

Happy Birthday!

by Hannah Jobe | June 12, 2022 3:13 AM

Day 1 in Alaska also happened to be Kristen’s birthday! We enjoyed some cupcakes and sweet fellowship together! How many people can say “I saw a moose in Alaska on my birthday!” So so cool! Happy 17th Kristen!

Firmly Rooted

by Hannah Jobe | June 12, 2022 4:12 PM

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”                 ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:7-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In our lives, it’s so easy to become distracted from our purpose. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget who we’re serving. It’s so important to be rooted in the Lord, His Word, and His love so that no matter what happens we can be like a tree planted by the water, unwavering. So to keep our focus on the Lord we choose to spend time alone with Him in His presence. This gives us the strength to boldly live each day for Him!

Sunday Service

by Hannah Jobe | June 12, 2022 4:20 PM

We got to spend some time in worship with our brothers and sisters at Peninsula Grace this morning! It is such a beautiful thing to share communion and remember what Jesus has done for us in unity with fellow believers!

Partnering with Peninsula Grace

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 1:45 AM

This week our group is honored to partner with Peninsula Grace Church, a gospel-centered community committed to reproducing disciples of Jesus.

We will be serving on campus, as well as being an extension of Peninsula Grace into the community. We have already enjoyed connecting with a few of the church members, and are so surprised to know of so many small connections we have back home in Archbold!

Coffee Hut

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 1:52 PM

After church on Sunday, we made our inaugural stop at a coffee hut! Coffee huts are little sheds that line the streets of Alaska, where residents and visitors stop to get their daily brew. Normally these operate as drive-thrus, but our group opted for a walk-up option. It was fun to try different things, especially a plant-based caffeinated drink called lotus.

Alaskans love their coffee, so our stop was truly a cultural experience!

Homer, AK

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 1:59 PM

Once we were all caffeinated, we drove 1.5 hours south on the Kenai Peninsula to the beautiful town of Homer (the halibut fishing capital of the world!) Homer sits on the Kachemak Bay, where the mountains meet the sea. It was a bit of a hazy day, but we still enjoyed seeing the mountains peek through the clouds.

We spent time eating lunch, going souvenir shopping, and seeing local arts and crafts being sold in the stores. Some of us went down to the beach where we were able to find some sweet looking rocks. All in all, it was a very restful way to start our week!

Moose Moment

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:03 PM

Alissa, our PPM trip leader, claimed she had a streak going of always seeing moose on the drive from Soldotna to Homer. Well, the moose did not disappoint, and we saw 10! Many of us practiced our moose calls, and some of us questioned what the plural of moose is (mooses? meese?? mice???), but all of us were excited about each moose we saw.

Current Moose Count: 11

Kenai Peninsula Food Bank

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:08 PM

One way we are being an extension of Peninsula Grace Church into their community is by serving at the local food bank. The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank provides food to over 70 non-profits on the entire peninsula. This week we will be serving both in the warehouse, as well as the soup kitchen. We will also assist the food bank with preparing for the silent art auction that they are hosting later this week.

Love INC

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:14 PM

Peninsula Grace partners with Love INC, and we are excited to help them prepare for their annual garage sale. Love INC is connected to every church on the Kenai Peninsula, and they work with their church partners to provide assistance to neighbors who may have a need. Their annual garage sale helps provide funds to do more ministry.

Painting at PG

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:17 PM

Our youth group is pumped to be able to serve the youth group at Peninsula Grace by painting their youth center! On Monday, we got to work and got A LOT accomplished. We can’t wait to see how this room is transformed through a fresh coat of paint.

Serving in the Sanctuary

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:28 PM

Peninsula Grace is about to replace their sound system, so we are prepping by updating their sound panels in the sanctuary. We are removing them one by one, replacing the cardboard sound tunnels with new foam. This change will be a blessing to the members and visitors of Peninsula Grace when they worship on Sundays.

Yard Work at the Food Bank

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:33 PM

In order to help prepare for Thursday’s silent art auction, we are making the grounds of the food bank look beautiful. Some of our team mowed, some of our team removed weeds, some of us moved a whole lot of dirt. It was encouraging to drive away from the food bank after our day of serving, and tangibly see the difference that we made on the grounds.

Packing Food

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:37 PM

A few of us helped the regular volunteers and staff of the food bank pack boxes of food that will go out to one of the distribution sites on the peninsula!

Garage Sale Prep was In-Tents

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:44 PM

On Monday at Love INC our focus was on organizing two tents worth of items. One of the tents we organized was for household items, and the other was filled with clothing. We definitely came across some interesting items!

The staff at Love INC do a lot to connect churches to needs in their community, so we are happy to be able to prep for the garage sale so they can continue to do their day to day operations.

Hike at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 2:47 PM

After a very full day of ministry, we decided to take a hike on Monday night. The hike brought us to a scenic view of a lake, And then back through a beautiful forest trail. The hike was filled with mosquitos! So many that we decided they must be Alaska’s state bird.

Tenzi Team Time

by Alissa Danielson | June 14, 2022 4:34 PM

We are loving the time we are spending with each other! Whether it’s conversations we are having during our van rides, serving together, or hanging out in our down time and playing games like basketball or Tenzi, we are loving simply being together. We praise God for how He has unified our team!

The Joy of the Lord

by Hannah Jobe | June 14, 2022 6:17 PM

And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”                         ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭8:10b‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬

Today we have chopped so much wood at the food bank! This task is essential to helping Alaskans get through the winter. Sometimes tasks like this can be exhausting and become mundane but with Jesus, we have joy in it! The Lord fills us with strength and joy even in tiresome moments! We love that through Jesus we can laugh and fellowship together through service!

Deck Demo at Church

by Alissa Danielson | June 15, 2022 12:51 PM

We demolished the deck and stairs in front of the church on Tuesday! Here’s a picture of our MVP Gracie who definitely pulled the majority of the boards off! She had the honor of removing the last board of the day.

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:10 PM

We were back at Love INC on Tuesday to continue with garage sale prep. Our team found some treasures while we were sorting clothing and household goods.

Ice Cream

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:16 PM

On Tuesday night we went down the street to the gas station to get some delicious hand-dipped ice cream! We had so much fun just laughing and being together. We thank God for the glimpse he has given of this week of what it looks like to live in genuine Christian community!

Wrapping Up Church Projects

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:25 PM

By the time Wednesday was over, most of our projects at Peninsula Grace were wrapped up. We demolished the deck, changed the soundproof panels, painted the youth center, and did some cleaning. What an honor it was to play a small part in the big things God is doing through Peninsula Grace!

Sharing a Meal at the Food Bank

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:28 PM

The highlight of the week for many of us was the conversations we had with people during lunch time at the food bank. The food bank offers a free meal every weekday. We enjoyed listening to stories, sharing about our faith, and praying for people as God have us the opportunity.

Solid Rock Bible Camp

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:35 PM

We were introduced to another ministry on Wednesday! Solid Rock Bible Camp exists to provide the youth of Alaska with outdoor experiences to encourage a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This week the staff is transitioning from their staff training into their first week of camp. We look forward to assisting them with some cleaning and pre-summer organizing!

Cleaning Cabins

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:42 PM

One way we served at Solid Rock Bible Camp was by cleaning 5 of their dry cabins. We swept, scrubbed, and disinfected. As we cleaned, we thought about the hundreds of campers who would stay in these cabins. We pray their lives are changed through the ministry God allows to happen at camp!

Soldotna Wednesday Market

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:45 PM

We took a short break from serving on Wednesday afternoon to visit the Soldotna Wednesday Market. There were so many craft and food vendors to visit! The park that the market takes place at is right on the beautiful Kenai River, so we took a walk along the board walk.

Shelter of Hope

by Alissa Danielson | June 17, 2022 11:51 PM

For dinner on Wednesday, we drove 30 minutes to the nearby town of Nikiski to visit a family shelter. The shelter just opened in January, but am had already served numerous families while they go through hard times. Our time at the shelter was beautiful; we ate, spoke with the residents, and played with the kiddos.

Love INC and the Food Bank play an instrumental role in the Shelter of Hope! It was a blessing to serve at a place that two of our ministry partners love.

The Beach

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 12:20 AM

After we visited Shelter of Hope, Greg (executive director of the food bank) took us to his favorite place in all of Alaska: the beach at Captain Cook State Park. We could have played with rocks for hours!

Art Auction at the Food Bank

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 12:27 AM

The food bank is hosting an art auction later this week, so our focus on Thursday was heavily dedicated to preparing for it. We organized the art and cleared the warehouse, as well as continued to ensure the grounds looked good for the auction guests.

Organizing the Snack Shop

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 12:31 AM

At camp on Thursday, we cleaned and organized the snack shop, taking inventory of what they had to begin the summer with. After our organizing, we went over to the dining hall where we scrubbed the kitchen floors. These jobs may seem small or dirty, but we k ow that they will bring a lot of relief to staff and campers this summer.

The Davidson’s House

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 12:33 AM

The Davidson’s, members of Peninsula Grace, invited us over for a cookout and a chance to enjoy their beautiful lakefront. We were blessed by their hospitality and the time of fellowship.

Polar Plunge

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 12:37 AM

A few of us have been looking for an opportunity to jump into a freezing lake while in Alaska, and our wish came true!

Travel Day

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 12:39 AM

We can’t believe that our week in Alaska is coming to a close! We spent the day on Friday driving back to Anchorage for our flight, stopping at a few spots along the way including this beautiful view!

We <3 Alaska

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 12:52 AM

Alaska and its people have been so good to us this week. We are so incredibly grateful God allowed us to serve in such a beautiful place. Thank you to everyone back home who prayed for us, and financially supported us to make this trip a reality. We could not have done this without your support!

Thank you, AEC Students!

by Alissa Danielson | June 18, 2022 1:01 AM

AEC Students,

it was an absolute JOY to serve alongside of you this week. Thank you for your dedication to serve the Lord and each other. Our prayer as we send you home to YOUR mission field is that you continue to be rooted in the word of God, in the love of Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Continue to be steadfast in your desire to serve with humility. Don’t stop encouraging each other with kind words and good deeds. Continue to trust in the Lord as Joseph did through the highs and lows of life. Remember how God has been faithful to us, and his faithfulness and love for you will never end!

We love you! We are so proud of how God worked in and through you this week.

See you again soon! :)

- Alissa, Hannah, Debbie (your PPM staff)

Thank you, AEC Students!

TESTIMONY ON HOW I GOT CURED TOTALLY FROM HERPES VIRUS BY DR ODIGIE HERBS I want to inform the public how I was cured of herpes Virus by a Doctor called Dr ODIGIE. I visited different hospitals but they gave me a list of drugs like Famvir, Zovirax, and Valtrex which are very expensive to treat the symptoms and never cured me. I was browsing through the Internet searching for remedies on Herpes and I saw comments of people talking about how Doctor odigie cured them. I Was scared because I never believed in the Internet but I was convinced to give him a try because I had no hope of being cured of herpes so I decided to contact him on his email, i searched his email on the net and I saw a lot of people testifying about his goodness. When I contacted him he gave me hope and sent a Herbal medicine to me that I took and it seriously worked for me, am a free person now without any problems, my HERPES result came out negative.
