We are here!

by Drema Jefferson | June 1, 2019 4:44 PM

After a long flight, we have finally arrived to a beautiful sunny day in The Dominican Republic. We are so excited to be here to serve and are ready to see what God has in store for this week.

We are here!

Getting our day started

by Drema Jefferson | June 2, 2019 12:42 PM

To get our day started we enjoyed a delicious breakfast made by our hotel owner, Frano. We enjoyed fruits, coffee, pancakes, french toast, an omelette of ham and cheese, and sausage.

Haitian Church Service

by Drema Jefferson | June 2, 2019 12:46 PM

After breakfast we attended a Haitian church service. We could really feel the presence of God and enjoyed worshipping with our Haitian brothers and sisters.

Testimony and Preaching

by Drema Jefferson | June 2, 2019 12:54 PM

During service this morning we heard a testimony from Liz about how God can help us overcome any sickness we may have.

Brett, our fearless group leader and pastor, preached an awesome message about loving God with all of our hearts and loving our neighbor as ourself. Pastor Jeorge translated the message into Haitian Creole.

Serving the children

by Drema Jefferson | June 2, 2019 12:57 PM

After service, we helped Pastor Jeorge serve lunch to the children of the church. We loved getting to serve and love on the kids.

Pastor Jeorge

by Drema Jefferson | June 2, 2019 4:49 PM

This afternoon after a short siesta, we were able to hear from Pastor Jeorge and how he became a pastor of a Haitian church and a Dominican church. We also got a chance to hear his vision as a pastor for the Batey's and his community. We are so thankful for Pastor Jeorge and all of the work he does as a pastor.

Prayer Walk

by Drema Jefferson | June 2, 2019 4:52 PM

After hearing from Pastor Jeorge, we went on a prayer walk in the Haitian community where the church resides. We were able to pray for families and minister to them.

Dominican Service

by Drema Jefferson | June 3, 2019 10:22 AM

Last night after dinner, we also attended a Dominican service. We heard a testimony, sang worship songs, participated in a communion ceremony, and heard from Pastor Brett. It was really cool to be able to observe and participate in two different cultural services and be a part of the global church.

VBS/Sports Camp: Day 1

by Drema Jefferson | June 3, 2019 4:28 PM

This morning we went to a predominantly Haitian community to put on a VBS/Sports Camp for the kids. We sang songs, played games, and ministered to them. The kids had so much fun and we loved that we could demonstrate the love of Christ through this ministry.

Getting ready for food distribution

by Drema Jefferson | June 3, 2019 4:39 PM

This afternoon we went to La Sirena to shop for food distribution supplies. We separated into groups of two and purchased enough food items to be able to pass out to families for the week. Then, we came back to the hotel to organize the food into bags for each family. We can't wait to bless each family and be able to minister to them tomorrow.

Food Distribution

by Drema Jefferson | June 4, 2019 8:53 PM

This morning we went back to Santa Rita Community and we split up into two groups. Then, we visited homes and blessed several families with a bag of groceries for the week. We were also able to pray for each family. It was a very powerful and moving moment for each of us.

Sports Camp: Day 2

by Drema Jefferson | June 4, 2019 9:00 PM

After lunch and a siesta, we went to a field in Santa Rita Community and played basketball, volleyball, soccer, and baseball with several kids from the community. We also sang a few worship songs, danced, and spoke about Jesus and His love for us. We reminded them how important it is to love God and love each other. We pray that our actions this week will plant seeds in the many hearts of these children.

Home Visits and VBS

by Drema Jefferson | June 6, 2019 9:02 AM

In the morning we split up into two groups and one group put on a VBS for the kids. They played games, sang worship songs, and shared a message about setting goals and working hard in Christ. The other team went and visited homes and prayed for families around the Santa Rita community. Although there had been a few changes in the week, we are learning that God's plans are always the best. He is always teaching us something

Sports Camp: Day 3

by Drema Jefferson | June 6, 2019 10:40 AM

After a siesta, we went back to the baseball field in Santa Rita community and we put on another day of sports camp for the kids. We played baseball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. We made sure all of the kids got a chance to rotate so they could experience all of the activities. We also had a large group that enjoyed coloring.

Our PPM leaders, Luis and Pastor Jeorge got a chance to share a testimony and a message. We also got a chance to pray over the kids and have them commit to serving and continuing in their relationship with the Lord. It was an incredible day of ministry and one we will never forget.

Community Night

by Drema Jefferson | June 6, 2019 12:28 PM

Tonight we participated in a farewell service. We worshipped, prayed, shared testimonies of our week in The Dominican Republic, and we celebrated Pastor Jeorge's birthday with a card from the group and cake.

After service, we had a barbecue and served hot dogs to the church congregation and community members. It was a great end to our ministry here in The Dominican Republic.
