What a long and good first day. We started off visiting Chicano Park in San Diego, learning about the immigrant story before crossing the border into Mexico. In Tijuana we spent time at Friendship Park learning about the our bi-national heritage as well as the current struggle asylum seekers have trying to start a new life under the protection of the United States. From there we bought some food and delivered it to a PPM partner church running a migrant shelter before driving to Ensenada.
We are looking forward to meeting our church partner here in Ensenada tomorrow!

Today our team got to meet our partner church and it’s co-pastors, Pastora Lupita and Pastor Omar. After hearing a bit about their hopes for tomorrow’s Dia de Los Niños event, we got to explore the community and invite families to come tomorrow. This was a fun time working on our Spanish phrases, knocking on doors, getting barked at, and inviting tons of families to the festivities tomorrow.
