Barahona, Our Home for the Week

by Rudy Bazin | July 27, 2019 11:03 PM

Wahoo!!! It was a long day, but we have finally arrived to our home away from home in Barahona! We are very much looking forward to some rest in order to be ready for an eventful Sunday that will begin with a church service alongside our brothers and sisters here.

Please keep us in your prayers as our week of service goes on. We will be posting daily updates so please, come back to this page for updates and feel free to leave a comment. We always love those!

Sabbath

by Rudy Bazin | July 28, 2019 11:57 AM

We were up early this morning. Between the early sunrise, the dogs barking, and our excitement to start day one in the DR, there was no sleeping in. We had breakfast, then made our way to church.

Every Sunday mornings, the church hosts children's church. We felt privileged to join them and their joyful singing.

After church, the pastor took some time to greet everyone and share about his calling and his ministry. Again, we feel privileged to be here and are looking forward to adult church tonight and the week ahead.

Night Church

by Rudy Bazin | July 28, 2019 6:10 PM

We had such a fun time at church tonight! We gathered together to sing and share the word. We even had a beautiful dance performance. Our team got up front to share two songs with the congregation and a testimony. It's amazing to see how the barriers collapse when we come together under the banners of Heaven!

Work Work Work!

by Rudy Bazin | July 29, 2019 1:42 PM

This morning was work time. We cleaned and prepared the back area of the church for more work later this week! It's amazing to see how much can be done with many hands! Our group is very dynamic and we are loving getting to know each other better!

Jesus is our Rescuer!

by Rudy Bazin | July 29, 2019 4:00 PM

"When you feel alone, Jesus rescues!" was the theme of VBS today. The kids were really receptive and kind. One successful VBS day in the books.

Home Visits

by Rudy Bazin | July 30, 2019 9:19 AM

This morning we kicked off the day with home visits. People are so welcoming and open to share their prayer needs. We're loving this opportunity to love on the locals here!

Prayer is Powerful

by Rudy Bazin | July 30, 2019 9:22 AM

The needs are plenty, but we serve a God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can ask or imagine. He will come through!

Impossible for Man, Possible for God

by Rudy Bazin | July 30, 2019 10:22 AM

This family is praying for their son. The doctor said that he will never be able to walk again. They are believing God for a miracle and we choose to believe with them. Everything is possible with God!

VBS Day 2

by Rudy Bazin | July 30, 2019 3:38 PM

VBS is currently underway. We are learning that Jesus is always present and ready to save us even in the craziest of storms. It's been loads of fun!

VBS Day 2

Hey. Hey. Hey.

by Rudy Bazin | July 30, 2019 3:45 PM

Everyone calling everyone at the same time: hey! Hey! Hey! It's either the sound of excitement or just chaos.

Hey. Hey. Hey.

That's a Wrap!

by Rudy Bazin | July 30, 2019 4:05 PM

It's the end of our VBS program for the day. We celebrated Jesus' death and resurrection with these glow sticks. He's no longer in the tomb, He lives now and forever!!!

That's a Wrap!

Batey Visit

by Rudy Bazin | July 31, 2019 11:31 AM

We took a little drive today to visit Batey St. Raphael. Bateys here are towns made up of people experiencing extreme poverty. We are humbled for the opportunity to serve them and to hang out with the kids.

FMSC MANNA PACK

by Rudy Bazin | July 31, 2019 11:45 AM

A lot of us helped to pack FMSC manna pack meals at home. Packing those bags is not only an act of obedience to God, but also an act of faith as we never know who will eat the food put in those bags.

Today was special because we got to experience the other end of this process, giving out the food. We feel like packing these back home will be even more personal now that we have seen first hand who profits from them.

Praying Over the Bags of Food

by Rudy Bazin | July 31, 2019 11:47 AM

We took some time to pray over the food before distribution. We believe that the God who has taken care of them all these years will continue to do just that!

Dance Party

by Rudy Bazin | July 31, 2019 3:31 PM

We're back at our host church this evening for the final VBS event. And of course, just as we do everyday, we danced to our favorite song "tchutchuah". So much fun!

Today was recreation day. We had some time to relax and enjoy the DR for the beautiful county that it is!
