First Baptist Church Trussville

We have arrived in Memphis! We ate some delicious barbeque, of course, and settled in at our lodging place for the week. We are excited about what God has in store for us here! 

These sweet friends are thrilled to be reunited with each other. They were able to play some while the adults met tonight. 

They are going to be greatly used by God this week!

This morning we had the privilege of serving on the St. Vincent de Paul Food Mission. We helped prepare and serve the food to over 150 people who need a nice, warm meal. Meals are prepared and served Friday-Tuesday at this ministry. The kids did amazing, serving alongside the parents and spreading joy to everyone who came in. 

This morning we took out the supplies that we had gathered for pastor James along with supplies and book bags that had been donated or bought and put them together. We completed 93 backpacks so far to be given to children in Bent Tree Apartments! That's amazing! The backpacks have everything and more that the kids need to go back to school. 

Tonight we were able to go and serve at Calvary Rescue Mission. This mission feeds and lodges up to 75 men each night. They rely heavily on volunteers and donations to feed the men each evening. We were able to cook/offer hamburgers, baked beans, chips, cookies, and lemonade to the men. In order to stay there, the men have to meet certain criteria including attending the chapel service they host each night at 7:00.  Pastor James preached tonight, so it was awesome to partner with him even there. 

This morning we got dressed up and went to the service at Hope Fellowship. It was a beautiful time with our Memphis church family. We loved hearing the word from Pastor James, the wonderful testimonies that were shared, and the worship. 

This afternoon we had a block party where so served 150 hotdogs and painted around 75 beautiful faces. We had a great time playing with the children, handing Bibles out to the adults, and just trying to share the love of Christ with everyone we met. 

This morning we went to the nursing home to share some love, laughter, and joy! The kids at VBS made cards to pass out to the residents. They loved them! Our kid missionaries performed three of their songs. It was a precious time! 

Our last day of VBS was awesome! We shared the story of Jesus forgiving Peter after he had rejected Jesus 3 times. Our prayer for the week is that one would come to salvation. We hope it happened today!
