We're here! The team arrived safely in Clendenin about 4:30 PM. We got settled into our rooms at Camp Whitney and then headed to the local diner, Momma Payne's. We ate a really good dinner and had the opportunity to hear from Susan Jack who heads up the recovery efforts in the Clendenin area. It helped us have a better understanding of the people we get to meet and serve this week. We're ready to watch God work!

One of the things that makes floods worse is the brush, trees and trash that clog the riverbanks and cause water to back up into homes and towns. Part of our team spent time cleaning up a section of the riverbank, removing dead trees and debris to help keep the river flowing freely.

This morning we went to church in Beckley, WV at one of Praying Pelican's partner churches in that area. It was fun to surprise them! After church we stretched beyond many of our comfort zones as we went did a course of 9 zip lines and 2 really scary bridges at ACE Adventures canopy tour. It was encouraging to see so many on our team face fears and try new hard things.
