Becoming A Soul Artist: How You Can Shape A Life

Becoming A Soul Artist: How You Can Shape A Life

Mike Rhoades | Jul 17, 2015

Love is a choice, a matter of forced perspective. If we are intentional, our love can become a continuous release of God's grace in another life. However, most of us are fairly cynical by nature. It's a curse of a world that struggles immensely with pride and ignorance. We believe we have the answer to everything but often lack the perspective to see the true impact of our presence. Three groups of people came together in Pomona, Belize this last week, to share the love of Christ with a community. Most arrived believing they came to do something; few understood they were joining a work God has been doing for 9 years. As their perspective shifted and they began to see people through God's eyes, the tone of the week changed. God is funny like that, He takes people with no connection and melds them together in unity. Three days into the trip it was impossible to tell who began as friends and who didn't. There was a beauty to it, hundreds of lives bouncing off each other with Godly intentionality. Things like this can be planned. These types of connections can even be skillfully facilitated. That's what the church does, it cleverly crafts environments to manipulate relationships. What the church can't do, shouldn't do, is lay claim to the transformational connections that form. As humans, we barely have control over our own lives let alone another's. Watching relationships build depth goes beyond logic, it delves into dependence on the God who gives purpose to this crazy circus called life. People are slaves to their perspective, the way they see the world filtered through the sum total of their life experiences. Most fail to realize the true impact each interaction has on a life. Every relational transaction shapes a life like a hammer and chisel. The beauty of what shaped the experience this last week in Pomona, Belize, was a collective decision to intentionally experience every interaction through God's perspective. Matt Pfingsten, PPM's president, once said, "The intentionality of being on mission is what makes relationship impactful." In other words, by forcefully displacing personal agenda's for God's mission a life becomes powerful. Through intentional Christ centered living, a soul artist is born. Be intentional. See the world as God sees the world. How do you want to impact those around you? Be a soul artist. [subscribe2]
