Mission, Vision, and Values
To build up, encourage, and assist the local Church in serving and reaching their communities for Christ.
To see a united global Church reaching its fullest potential for the glory of God.
We operate internally on the guiding principles of:
We are unifiers, building bridges through our commonalities as Jesus followers.
We cultivate a culture of honor and dignity, putting our partners first.
We hire locally, investing in trained, year-round leaders who know their communities best.
We strive to do what's right, guided by biblical principles.
We work diligently to be lifelong learners and good stewards of the calling before us.
We lead with professionalism and experience in our field to do what we say we're going to do.
We are passionately rooted in Christ.
We submit first in prayer, ensuring that our bold "yes" aligns with the Holy Spirit's leading.
We move forward with confidence, trusting God as we make ourselves available to His calling.
We carry out our mission through the lens of:
Our heart is to be wholly invested in the communities in which we serve, providing a connecting point for the global Church.
We build lasting relationships with local churches and ministries, partnering alongside them 365 days a year.
We operate under the authority and direction of the local Church, ensuring that the ministry we do leads to a healthy and lasting impact for the Kingdom.
Praying Pelican Missions (PPM) began in 2003 serving two communities in Belize. We expanded to Jamaica in 2007 and now annually serve more than 65 communities between the two countries, making us the largest provider of mission trips to Belize and Jamaica in the USA.
Praying Pelican Missions is currently serving in 17 countries around the world which includes more than a dozen cities across the USA. Our staff includes more than 400 individuals both in the U.S. and in the local communities where teams serve.
We now partner with churches and ministries in over 350 communities across the globe and are continually seeking to add more locations and opportunities as the Lord leads and opens the doors.
What's With The Name?
Pelicans are common in Central America and the Caribbean where our ministries began, so the founders decided to incorporate pelicans into the name of their new organization both to add an element of fun and to make a memorable logo to help spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
As the pelican is an ancient symbol of Christian sacrifice, this turned out to be the perfect choice. Legend states that a mother pelican, in times when food was scarce, would sacrifice her life by pecking herself to feed her baby. In the same way, Jesus gave His life for us, and that kind of selfless giving is what each Christ-follower is called to. This is our mission everywhere we serve
STATEMENT OF FAITH
At the core of who we are and what we stand for is our statement of faith. The following statements outline what we at Praying Pelican Missions believe.
The Bible is God’s complete and perfect Word and our ultimate authority as followers of Christ. (2 Timothy 3)
We are all lost, fallen short of the glory of God, and in need of a Savior. (Romans 3)
Jesus came to earth for the purpose of seeking and saving the lost. (Luke 19:10)
Jesus died on the cross. Three days later, He rose from the grave, paying the ultimate sacrifice and conquering death for all who believe in Him. (1 Peter 3:18, 1 John 2:2, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9)
As a result of God’s grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, we are saved. (Ephesians 2, John 14)
Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are One. (John 1)
Jesus Himself commissioned His followers (the Church) to go into the world and make disciples. (Matthew 28)
