We have the opportunity to partner with an incredible organization called Loaves & Fishes, who's primary focus is providing healthy meals for the hungry. We worked all afternoon in a community garden and made great progress!

Though our team for this week might be small, we have already accomplished great things! It was incredible to see the teamwork this afternoon and how enthusiastic everyone was about even the smallest of tasks-like pulling weeds!!

Planting Seeds

by Nicole Seymour | June 19, 2017 7:15 PM

Today we had the chance to plant literal seeds in the garden, that will multiply and bless many people in the Twin Cities. We are praying for God to give us opportunities to continue planting seeds this week....seeds of hope, love, and encouragement that will lead others straight to the gospel!

Some of the youth were asked to scrub the walls in the gym/cafeteria...even if they were not AS excited for this job, everyone pitched in and had a great attitude serving! It is awesome to see youth with such servants hearts!! Here is a picture of Ellie and Kylie, scrubbing their hearts out!

Gardening!

by Nicole Seymour | June 20, 2017 10:35 PM

Today was our last afternoon spent in the Loaves & Fishes garden. We accomplished so much in such a short time!! We planted mustard seeds in one of the garden beds and were reminded of Jesus' teaching on having faith as small as a mustard seed. So cool to see that illustration in real life!

by Nicole Seymour | June 20, 2017 10:39 PM

We had the chance to serve dinner at one of the Loaves and Fishes locations in inner city Minneapolis, just a few blocks from the church we are staying at. It was incredible to see how many people came to receive dinner! The site coordinator said there is an average of about 200-250 people a night, Monday-Friday that come to receive dinner.

The Lords Prayer

by Nicole Seymour | June 21, 2017 5:13 PM

Later in the afternoon, we walked to Powdehorn Park in Minneapolis and did a prayer training together. We broke down the Lord's Prayer in matthew and discussed what each line meant. Then we paraprahsed each line in our own words to make a personal prayer for ourselves! It was cool to bring new meaning to a passage many of us are familiar with!

Tour of Phillips

by Nicole Seymour | June 21, 2017 9:52 PM

This evening we walked around the Phillips neighborhood, which is where we have been calling home this week. The church we are staying at has been in Minneapolis since the late 1800s and has seen a lot of history! It was interesting to hear one of the church staff members, Jennifer, share a lot of history and information about the Phillips neighborhood and Minneapolis in general!

Kids Camp

by Nicole Seymour | June 22, 2017 9:51 AM

This morning we went to the Salvation Army location we have been partnering with this week. Instead of the jobs we have been doing all week, we got to spend the morning with the kids that are in the summer Day camp program! It was a blast to play games with them. We spent sometime outside before we got rained out and had to play inside, but we still had lots of fun!

Power of Prayer

by Nicole Seymour | June 23, 2017 10:54 AM

The best part of the morning was praying for the food, and the people about to come and receive it, before we opened up the doors! Prayer is so powerful and we were blessed to have the opportunity to pray with the staff and volunteers at Salvation Army
