Safe Arrival!

by Sarah | July 11, 2010 5:59 AM

The group made it to Belize safely yesterday morning! We settled into our hotel and went into Belize City for lunch to start off the trip. We were able to jump into ministry in the afternoon as we went to a nursing home. We chatted with the residents, worshiped with them, and were blessed by the many stories that were exchanged. Simply holding one man´s hand was an amazing act that God used to encourage the elderly. We wrapped up the day with an awesome time of worship and sharing about our desires for the trip. It is amazing to see the group so excited and ready to be used by our Lord! God brought every person down here for a reason and we have already seen Him working! Today we are heading out to Bermudian Landing to meet Pastor and worship with the church. Thank you for all the prayers that you have been sending our way!

Belizean Sunday

by Sarah | July 11, 2010 10:27 PM

Today was a beautiful day as we went out to Bermudian Landing for the Sunday morning activities. The team led Sunday school at the church for the kids, teens and adults. Brent started off the adult Sunday school and it was awesome as it turned into a time of sharing testimonies of God´s goodness! One of the other churches (First Baptist Church of Oak Grove) we are joining up with this week led the church service. Afterwards we had a picnic with the whole church! We cooked hot dogs, beans, made cole slaw and enjoyed a time of fellowship with everyone from the community. It was delicious and a great opportunity to start connecting with people. In the afternoon we spent a few hours at a children´s home were we simply loved on the kids there. It was amazing to see the team playing, running and dancing with the kids all over the yard! There is no doubt that we made an impact on the kid´s lives. Please pray that God continues to work through what we did today! In the evening we had dinner and then attended the night service at the church. Hope Presbyterian church led the service and it was a great reminder of why we are here-- to bless and be blessed. We have already experienced both :)

VBS

by Sarah | July 12, 2010 9:17 PM

Today was our first day of Vacation Bible School! We joined alongside the other two churches today to help out with the VBS in Bermudian Landing-- tomorrow we will be going out to the nearby village of Lemonal where we will be leading our own VBS. There was an amazing turn out of children this morning and the area around church was filled with kids. Some of us helped out with crafts, helped with the teen ministry, led groups around, and even held cute babies :) After a great lunch we started up some of the construction projects. Today we painted the ceiling of the church´s ministry building, as well as doing some concrete work. A few from the group were even able to begin the process of building new stairs and and porch at one of the church member´s houses. The team worked so hard despite the heat and it was great seeing the amazing progress. The afternoon concluded with some sports ministry, bible study, and time to just hang out with the people of the village.

Tuesday Happenings...

by Sarah | July 13, 2010 10:15 PM

Today was our first day of VBS in Lemonal! After our intense excursion to the community center, we were excited to get going with the kids. We walked around and invited the chilldren of the village to come hang out with us for the morning. There was a great turn out and we have already started making connections with the kids and their parents. In the afternoon we continued working on the construction/painting projects in Bermudian Landing that we began yesterday. Also, the girls were able to hang out and make some friendship bracelets as they got to know some of the locals. We also had the privilege of leading a bible study at the church this afternoon. We shared our testimonies, and a few from the other groups shared theirs as well. One lady from the village shared about her life and struggles and we were able to have a powerful time of prayer for her! God was clearly moving and using the group to pour into so many lives today-- praise God!

Singing & Dancing

Having a great time singing during VBS!

Finishing up

by Sarah | July 15, 2010 10:31 PM

Yesterday morning we had an amazing time with VBS. More kids came out to see what we were up to! The singing, crafts and bible stories were awesome as the kids got excited and enthralled with everything. In the afternoon we were blessed with the chance to go to a nearby mayan ruin, Altun Ha. It was a great break from ministry as we learned about the history surrounding this part of Belize. The evening was full with a great church service led by our Belizean brothers and sisters. We were all so encouraged by the testimonies and singing! Today we finished up our last day of ministry in Bermudian Landing and Lemonal. Again, VBS was incredible! We have really been connecting with the kids and we have been blessed to meet all of them. God worked through the sharing of the gospel today. For the rest of our day we hung out with the children, did some more painting of the church, and enjoyed sweet fellowship with the people in the village. Tomorrow we head out to Caye Caulker for a time of relaxation and reflection! God is so good and we cannot wait to tell you about what happened this week!

Hello Friends! I continue to pray for each of you many times each day. My heart is there with you... Just from the little that I have learned, I can just "sense" that God is working through you all in a mighty way... Keep looking to Him (as I know you are), and He will draw others to Himself through you. WOW! How humbling it is to think that the GOD OF THE UNIVERSE can bring others into "the fold" through us and our lives when we allow Him and make ourselves willing and obedient vessels...!! What an enormous responsibility we have to make ETERNAL impressions... :)
