We made it to DC! After spending some time exploring The Capital, we are now in Hughes United Methodist Church, our lodging and partner for the week.

We are meeting as a team and getting ready for the week! Join us in prayer that God takes control and shows up in everything that we do!

We are enjoying worshiping alongside the traditional service of Hughes United Methodist Church. We are singing some hymns as we praise God with our brothers and sisters!

We are now praising God with the Hispanic Service of Hughes United Methodist Church. We are joining their worship team and singing songs both in English and Spanish! How powerful to praise God in two languages!

We are on our way to the heart of The Capital to have a time of worship and prayer. But just before that, we are taking in every monument around the area,  reflecting on its meaning and we could see God in it.

Close to the Washington Monument, there's a tent in which there has been continuous worship and prayer for the past six years!

We are joining David's Tent for an evening of worship as brothers and sisters joined by the love of Christ. What a powerful experience!

We are helping the church refresh some of the rooms with a nice new coat of paint! We are playing some worship music while we work as a team, this a great way to bless Hughes UMC!

We are finishing the newly appointed youth pastor's office! He's going to enjoy a newly painted office when he starts planning how to reach the youth in this community!

Another project is to finish painting the foyer that leads to the men's bathroom. Teamwork is paying off!

Today we are helping the food bank! They have prepared more than 600 grocery bags. We are putting them in stations so we can serve more than one car at a time. You can feel the excitement in the air! Let's do this!

While on a lunch break, the pastor shared the story of how the food distribution ministry started and her vision from God for this community.

We are grateful to her and her staff for allowing themselves to be used by God and be His arms and feet! God bless them!

The church uses the attic of the church as classrooms and storage space. The classrooms are in need of a new coat of paint, and we are glad to help out!

This morning we are finishing the third floor with a second coat of paint,  sanding out the plaster we put on, and covering some holes in the walls close to the offices. Everyone is giving their all to finish in the last couple of hours we have! Go team, go!

On Thursdays the church packs the groceries they will distribute on Tuesdays,  so we are blessed to be able to help them pack them! We are first preparing the bags in which to put the groceries in!

We were each challenged to pick 3 words that describe our week. We each shared what these words meant to us. 

Our time serving at Hughes UMC has come to an end. At the beginning of the week, we were a group of students and advisors who didn't quite know each other. But now as we say goodbye and head home, we are a family. Until next time......
