Benedictine College

Benedictine College has arrived! Sunday morning we went to St. Joseph’s church. Father Joseph who came with the team was asked to assist with the service. It was a wonderful time of fellowship with our Hawaiian family. 

It’s been a great day of ministry. We folded clothes at a distribution center focused on providing resources for those who lost their homes in the fire. Hundreds of boxes have been donated and need organization. We helped to lighten the load for those who are there long term volunteering. It takes a village to run an operation like this and it was a blessing to be a part of it! 

Yesterday, we served with St Joseph’s. We helped to clean the convent and today we were honored to listen to the inspiring stories of those in the community. 

We spent much of yesterday clearing out bamboo and wood from the fire that happened last August. The long term volunteers were grateful to have a group come to help them. Assistance during the early months is great, but as time goes on the volunteer numbers dwindle. It was an honor to be able to help them continue to finish the work they set out to do! 

Today has been perfect weather. Our day consisted of lots of weeding and lots of planting. We learned how to identify which plants were weeds (like the Wattle) and which plants were good to keep. The team worked hard and will end the day with a hike!
