Keep Portland Weird

by Justin Jones | March 4, 2024 12:11 PM

Yesterday we went on a cultural tour of downtown Portland.  We experienced the city, ate some food and learned a lot about the Pacific Northwest and Portland culture.

Walking the PSU Campus

by Zechariah Fritz | March 4, 2024 10:10 PM

This afternoon the team walked the campus of Portland State University in partnership with Northwest Collegiate Ministries and surveyed the student population concerning their spiritual lives. The data collected will inform their future ministry on campus, ensuring that they can most effectively reach the students for Christ.

Wrapping Chocolate

by Justin Jones | March 4, 2024 10:13 PM

Tonight we are wrapping chocolate for a local family-owned chocolate shop. Our partner pastor introduced us to the chocolate shop and we are sharing the love of Jesus with this family by helping them wrap the candy. We can get this done in a few hours that would usually take them days. What a blessing.

Rainy Days and Surveys

by Zechariah Fritz | March 5, 2024 1:39 PM

Once again we are walking the PSU campus and collecting data on the community and spirituality of the student body. We have found that many students feel isolated and without community or meaningful connection. Pray that God will empower Northwest Collegiate Ministries to facilitate belonging and hope on Campus!

Campus Debrief

by Zechariah Fritz | March 5, 2024 5:14 PM

Every day after our time on campus we gather to discuss our experiences, to share how we saw God moving, and to pray for those we talked with and interviewed. Every name of those we interviewed is listed and we pray that God will use our conversations to show Christ in this community.

Union Gospel Mission

by Zechariah Fritz | March 5, 2024 10:33 PM

Partnering with Union Gospel Mission (UGM), we sorted, organized, and prepared clothing for the homeless. Clean, warm, and dry garments serve a threefold purpose to provide protection from the elements, dignity for the "last, least, and lost", and a tangible example of Christ's love.

Where the Prodigal Things Are

by Zechariah Fritz | March 7, 2024 2:49 PM

On Wednesday night we were given the opportunity to serve our ministry partner, Solid Rock Baptist Church, by serving them a meal and hosting a worship service. Braylon, a ministry student from Spring Arbor, preached a lesson combining lessons learned from the book Where the Wild Things Are and the story of the prodigal son.

by Zechariah Fritz | March 7, 2024 2:53 PM

Our team was able to beautify our host church by replanting flowers and cleaning the gutters, ensuring that Solid Rock Baptist Church remains a welcome refuge and reflection of Christ for the community they serve!
