Dripping Springs Presbyterian Church

We arrived in Jackson Saturday night and got our things settled in. Afterwards we had a quick group meeting and then played some games with the other youth groups we are working with. 

Sunday morning we woke up bright and early to prepare for church service. We were blessed with a great meal for breakfast that our partner church cooked for us! A traditional southern breakfast with biscuits and gravy and grits. We also got to meet many of the members of our partner church and talked with them during breakfast.

After breakfast we had a group lesson about the apostles and how they were regular people just like us. We talked about the spiritual gifts that God blessed us with. 

We had gyros for lunch at a Jackson favorite called Keifers. 

Today our team helped to clean the up the yard of a local woman’s home in inner city Jackson with our partner, Care Center Ministries. 

Out team split into groups and some helped organize and clean up the inside of the house while the other group worked outside. 

Tuesday we helped members of our partner church with some of their yard work needs. We cleaned out their flower beds and trimmed their bushes. 

Wednesday, our team helped sort food to hand out to people in the local community. We had a great time doing it too! 

After sorting the food, we handed it out as people drove through the line. We also talked to the people getting food and prayed with them. 

After finishing up at the food pantry we went to the men's home at the care center and helped them out with a few projects. We disassembled old bikes so that they could get money for the ministry from the scrap parts. We also helped paint their sanctuary.

Thursday we went out to a parking lot in inner city Jackson and picked up trash. After that we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs to give out. We also prayed with people who we met and gave out bicycles.
