Valley Christian School

We made it! We got to meet our host pastor at the airport and she brought us delicious Hawaiian sushi as we waited to load our luggage! It was sooo good!

Today, we had breakfast and will attend church at Kauai Christian Fellowship and St. John’s Episcopal Church! 

During our second church service, we were welcomed with leis, given by the children. It was a very special surprise! We then got to eat traditional authentic local food. After lunch, we prepared for our visit to Waimea Canyon!

We are working on landscaping at the church today!

We were also able to remove some roots to help complete the landscaping project. 

At the end of the day we sang songs of praise to Jesus by singing with the children. 

We spent more time cleaning at the church today to prepare for painting. 

Today some of us stayed and helped at our host church with some of the congregation. Pastor Rick showed us a few of his favorite places, including the "spouting horn"!

Today we are making structures out of spaghetti and marshmallows with the children.  

We ended the day having a cookout on the beach as we played in the waves with the children

. 

After breakfast we took time to pray and focus on Jesus with a devotional. 

Today we did some painting at a house that belongs to the church we are working with. 

We enjoyed our last afternoon with the children today. We did science experiments and made beaded necklaces together. But not before one last group photo of our new friends, who we love so much! 

After breakfast and a devo, we got a tour of Anchor House from pastor Rick. Anchor House is a house where gap year students come to learn fellowship in Christian community and other skills together. Then he shared some awesome stories with us! 

We are hard at work organizing items in the children’s learning center. 

We are headed to a luau tonight and are so excited! 

We are so blessed to be able to experience a luau. We got to learn about the family owned business, see the ceremony of unearthing the pig, experience a tour on a tram around the property, have an all you can eat meal, learn the hula, enjoy the hula dancers, and the fire thrower - all in one night!!

At the end of our week, we were able to do kayaking and hiking! Some of us did mountain tubing.
