Meeting our Church Partners

by Claire Burbery | July 17, 2023 8:04 PM

At Sunday school this morning, we got to participate in a lesson on the 29th chapter of Jeremiah which was taught by a man of the church who has been teaching Sunday school for 39 years! It’s also been broadcast on the radio for that many years, so it was exciting to know that the lesson could be reaching many other ears. During the service, we also got to hear some Kentucky bluegrass — brought to us by the group Redwire Bluegrass — and the message was about the value and foreverness of friendship. Afterwards, we ate so much food at a church-wide potluck, where we learned the true meaning of Kentucky hospitality!

Third Time’s the Charm

by Claire Burbery | July 17, 2023 8:09 PM

One group this morning was breezing through work with smiles and grit! Our first stop was painting a porch, where we got to know a member of First Baptist Church, her son, and her dog. We then moved down the street to see her neighbor and her brother (and pets) in order to help them paint some wrought iron poles holding up their carport and shuck some corn. After some lunch, we met up with another member of FBC and helped her trim her driveway-long hedge, which hadn’t been cut back in six years!

What may look like sitting down on the job is actually the tedious job of sanding a handicap ramp for one of the First Baptist Church of Russellville members.

Some of the group got to unbox, unwrap, and repackage food for the local food bank. They worked hard and processed over 6 pallets of food.

A Paint Job Well Done

by Claire Burbery | July 18, 2023 8:32 PM

We headed back to Mr. Gene’s ramp and deck today to paint! There was more surface area than expected but with so many hard-working hands, it didn’t take as long as we thought. Afterwards, we cut down a bothersome tree and moved the wood to a safe spot. At the end of our work day, we were honored with a prayer from Mr. Gene himself.

Cleaning up after the Storms

Today we had the pleasure of working at Ms Sharon and Mr Joe’s home. They had many tree limbs down after several storms rolled through.

Teamwork makes the Dream Work!

by Cheryl Beck | July 19, 2023 6:13 PM

Some of the tree limbs were actually the size of small trees and required a team effort.

Meeting the Lord in Worship

by Claire Burbery | July 21, 2023 10:30 PM

Following a full day of recreation at Mammoth Cave National Park, it was so great to be in the presence of the Lord and worship together. We all felt the Holy Spirit moving through the room as we sang, danced, cried, and prayed as one.
