Sunday Morning Service

by Matthew Monseth | June 25, 2023 2:22 PM

This morning, the team from Moses Lake joined their ministry partner, Mount Olive Baptist Church, for Sunday service. Afterwards we had lunch on sight and got to hear from their pastor, Braylon Harrison, on how God is working in south west Louisiana and what needs still persist.

Serving the Community- Sunday Evening

by Marie Keene | June 26, 2023 3:10 PM

Yesterday we had the opportunity to serve hot dogs, snacks, and water to people in the community at a revival being held at the local civic center. As some teams were serving the hot dogs, we got the pleasure of seeking out people, asking how we could serve them, praying with them, and inviting them to get a meal.

Many Hands make the Load Light

by Almando Jean Louis | June 26, 2023 3:45 PM

Our team size grew to 50 as we are working alongside two other churches.

We are dividing up into 5 groups and helping 5 families with repairs on their homes for the week.

Project 1:

Ms Barbara's house sustained great damage during hurricane Ida. She had a plank ceiling that was water damaged before she had a new roof. A team before us worked hard pulling the ceiling down and got rid of the loose fiberglass insulation. But we found out that the AC ducting was leaking pretty badly and the rafters will need to be strengthened before we can hang the drywall ceiling. We have a team working on strengthening the rafters and we can hopefully get the ceiling done if they can get the AC ducting fixed.

Project 2

Vanessa's home sustained great damage during Hurricane Ida as well. But it's great to see how repairs have come along. Previous teams have helped her but there is still a lot to be done. We were hoping that we could help her with the installation of a new floor but found out that some major work will need to take place to level the floor before new flooring can be installed.

We will help gut one of her closets that is water damaged and put in new walls.

Project 3

Mrs. Jerry Jo will have knee surgery soon and will need to be in a wheelchair, hopefully not for too long. But she will need a ramp. A team last week helped start the ramp but ran out of time to complete it. We will pick up where they left off adding railing and spindles to it, which will complete it.

Project 4:

Mrs. Elvia's house also sustained great damage during the last hurricanes. She just got her kitchen redone but needs some appliances and countertops. There are also some minor projects we can help with, such as lawn care, painting, and the installation of countertops and hopefully a shower stall, a vanity, and a sink in her bathroom. It would be amazing if we could see Mrs. Elvia move to her new house at the end of the week. Some of the ministry money we have can help purchase a fridge and some other appliances for her.

Project 5:

A previous team helped Mr. Moses install drywall in his entire ceiling. But it's unfinished. We are taping and floating the ceiling and hopefully texture it. He has a couple of closet that needs drywall still and the bathroom needs to be redone.

We are happy to see Mr. Moses' house coming together.

We are so blessed to be a part of those homeowners' stories.

To God be the glory!

Mr. Moses House

At one of our projects we get the privilege of working with Mr. Moses. His home was affected my Hurricane Laura. He welcomed us and checked on us as we were working throughout his home. We’re glad to have to opportunity to speak to him about Jesus while also making his home, a home once more.

Worship

by Marie Keene | June 28, 2023 10:58 PM

Getting to end the day with worshipping the Lord is a gift. After a long days work, getting to spend time in his presence, along with fellowship with out other teams is the reset that we all need!

Rolling down the bayou

by Marie Keene | June 29, 2023 9:23 PM

Today, our last full day here in Lake Charles Louisiana, we decided to go on a swamp tour. We got to see some gators, eat some good food, and just enjoy the day with each other.

Final night of worship

by Marie Keene | June 29, 2023 9:25 PM

We ended our fun filled day with spending time with Jesus. Matt and Al lead us in worship and it was just an awesome time spent in the presence of the Lord. It was an amazing week, and while we’re sad to be going home, we’re glad we got to make the differences that we did.
