Yesterday was Rec Day! We had a blast getting to explore the area. First we went to Seaside, then we stopped in Astoria, and ended our day at the Cannon Beach Overlook. We had a great time exploring but we are so excited to serve!

As we start our exciting work for the week we have over 50 kids join us for Vacation Bible School hosted by Go Church PDX. We’re super excited to plays lots of games, do some awesome dances, and teach these kiddos about the love of Christ.

After an awesome morning of some basketball, soccer, and crafts it’s finally Bible story time. Some of our amazing leaders led us in teaching about Gods love through His Word. Awesome job teaching these kids about Gods love!

During our arts and crafts time after lunch the kids got to color a bookmark reminding them to “Do What Jesus Says”. There was some absolutely awesome coloring done!

After an awesome day of working with the kids at VBS we all ended our day with a quick dance party jamming out to the Church Clap. After we finished our fun little dance party it was then time to explore downtown Portland. We made our way downtown to Powell’s Books, one of the largest independently owned book stores in the country! There were so many books and so many awesome things to read!

After an amazing day of work and exploring the city we went back to the church to eat some dinner then all joined together for our nightly debrief. Some absolutely amazing stories were shared about how well the day went. God was really moving in some super incredible ways.

It’s time for work day number 2 and VBS day 2. All the kids showed up and were super excited to have a fun day and hang out with all their awesome new friends (our amazing leaders). Today the focus was to “Believe Who Jesus Was”. They had an awesome time singing about who Jesus was and dancing to declare it!

During our super fun and colorful arts and crafts time we made a compass to make sure to always point us towards Christ. We colored, laminated then turned our compasses into necklaces. After finishing out necklaces we have each kid a super cool compass to go around their wrist to fit with our Bible verse of the week, Hebrews 12:2A.

After our amazing day of work at VBS we ended with our super awesome dance party jamming out to a fun upbeat version of Every Move I Make, a classic VBS song. Soon after we then made our way out to Multnomah Falls to see the absolute beauty of Gods creation here in Oregon.

Day 3 has begun! Today we had even more kids than before! As we start our morning with all these amazing kiddos we had our Bible story time where we talked about Peter and how he denied Jesus 3 times but even though he denied Jesus, Jesus forgave him and showed him love. Jesus forgives us as well. Never forget that!

During our arts and crafts time the kids had the opportunity to make necklaces with wooden crosses on them. What an amazing thing to be able to wear as a reminder of what Jesus did for all of us to forgive us of everything!

After an awesome day at VBS we had to end our day with one of our amazing dance parties and jammed out to Cotton Eyed Joe! After lots of fun we then made our way back to Solid Rock Baptist Church (our host church) to bless them however possible and thank them for hosting us this week. Some of the various projects we did around the church was repainting and striping the parking lot, yard work, deep cleaning, and updating their bulletin boards. Everyone worked so hard and had a great fun time helping out SRBC.

After an awesome day of fun at VBS and working at Solid Rock Baptist Church it was time for a treat. The team went out to Salt & Straw to get some super fun and unique ice cream! Salt & Straw is a staple here in the PNW for being unique and always having such a fun environment! God has blessed us as people with the delicious treat of ice cream!

Today was our fourth and final day of VBS. It has been such an incredible week getting to hang out with nearly 60 kids and show them and teach them about Gods love for each and every one of them. To end the week the team focused the day around the main point of “go where Jesus leads”. During the arts and craft time the kids had the chance to paint rocks and remind themselves about Gods loves and to follow Jesus wherever He may lead us. What a great reminder that is for all of us!

Per usual the kids had an absolute blast getting to hang out with all of our awesome volunteers this week and getting to learn with them. Everyone enjoyed the Bible story times and getting to watch our awesome leaders teach us about Christ love. Great job to the team for making it so fun and engaging for all the kids!

For our final day of VBS we of course had to end our day with another dance party. Today we all jammed out and danced together to Hoedown Throwdown from the amazing Hannah Montana Movie. It’s been so fun to be able to all dance and celebrate all the awesome work of the day together!

After an awesome week of hanging out with all these kids we invited them and their families back to the church one last time this week to join us for a block party. We had games, food, and some awesome dancing! It was awesome to see all the parents and get to hang out with the kiddos one last time! The Lord is truly working in this community and in the lives of these kids and families.

Wow! What an absolutely amazing week it has been! Over 60 kids joined us for a Vacation Bible School, so much work was done both at our host church and with the church we worked with, and countless seeds were planted for the Kingdom. The team all did such a great job, always had a positive, cheerful, and fun attitude, all while impacting the lives of these children more than they could even imagine. Thank you so much for all the amazing work that has been done this week! Continue to do this wherever the Lord leads you and follow in His path He has prepared for us.
