Cumberland Youth

Our team from Cumberland Youth has arrived and are looking forward to an eventful week partnering with Lifestyles of Maryland. We can’t wait to see how God works within and through us this week! 

Cumberland youth has arrived at LifeStyles of Maryland. We are ready for our first day of service!

These girls created some beautiful flower arrangements that will be available at the distribution center! 

We finished our day by organizing furniture in the distribution center.

A group of us got the opportunity to pick weeds to refresh our partners garden!

We stopped at Chick-Fil-A for dinner before we head into DC to walk the National Mall! 

Our first stop was the FDR Memorial! 

Wow! This group of pelicans poured their heart and soul into making these flowers come to life in front of our partners building! From picking them out at the store to planting them and watering them to life we executed this task perfectly! 

We ended our last work day by having a conversation about homelessness. We learned what we can do to help in our own communities. We have learned so much in our 3 days of working and can’t wait to take the information we learned and acclimate it back into our own communities! We are grateful for the time we got to serve with lifestyles of Maryland.   

As we wrapped up our last workday, we prayed over lifestyles of Maryland and their volunteer coordinator. We prayed over this community and this building that we helped refurbish. We’re incredibly grateful that we got to serve this amazing organization.

Today we met our senator David Kustoff. We got to hear a little bit about what he does and he shared his appreciation for our visit. After we met him, we got a tour of the capital building. 

We made it to the spy Museum! We had so much fun getting to be assigned an undercover identity and work our way through the spy museum! We got to learn so much history about spies! 

Our next stop was the American History Museum. We got to go around and learn all about America’s history and all of the fun movies and historic events that happened. We had a great time!

We tried a new restaurant that we do not have back home. It’s called Shake Shack. We all got to try different burgers and it was really yummy!

We ended the week by reflecting on our week of service. Each person wrote two words that described their week and then we went around and shared why we picked those words. This group worked hard and built close relationships with one another.
