Calvary Baptist Church

Our team from Calvary Baptist has arrived and is ready for a week of serving in Waldorf, Maryland! 

This morning we are attending the Church at St. Charles where we will be staying all week. The church has welcomed us and has been so encouraging already. We are looking forward to serving with them this week! 

We spent the afternoon watching a Nationals v. Marlins game. It was a hot, but fun afternoon in the sun! 

We ended our night by learning a new game called Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. We are enjoying getting to know one another! 

Our group began our morning doing VBS prep for Church at St. Charles. We let our creative juices flow! 

This afternoon we were able to go to the Catherine Foundation and learn about the ministry they do here. We also helped with four different projects. The Catherine Program provides five different types of services to pregnant women. They offer medical services like ultrasounds or pregnancy tests, material assistance like baby clothes, education (free classes), community outreach, and they spread the Gospel.   

This afternoon a member from Church at St. Charles let us come and use their pool for some fun in the sun. We are grateful for the hospitality shown to us in the community! 

We ended our night with dinner at Chick-Fil-A! 

Today we partnered with Martha’s Table, a ministry in DC that meets a variety of needs. The organization was started in 1980 because Ward 7 and 8 of DC are “food deserts.” At the time, there was only one grocery store for both wards leaving lots of people deficient in their food needs. Now, they do food giveaways, clothing distribution, daily meals to tent encampments, and they have an early education program. Our group was thrilled to be able to help with the food giveaway! 

Passing out waters and offering prayer to people around Union Station this afternoon! 

We jumped back in at Martha’s Table this morning. We worked on double bagging boxes of bags and setting up for food giveaway which starts at 11 am. 

During our food giveaway, we met Ms. Janet. She was excited to talk to us and share in our energy. We celebrated with her that it has been a year and 3 months that she has been cancer free! 

Last night we went out to a local pizza shop for dinner. Lots of fun and fellowship!
