Church Service

by Rebekah Anderson | July 9, 2023 2:25 PM

Today Pastor Randy preached from Psalm 8 about God’s glory seen through creation. Verse 4 says: “what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” Pastor Randy reminded us that God is great yet he still wants a relationship with each of us. It was a great reminder for our upcoming week!

Prayer Walk

by Rebekah Anderson | July 9, 2023 8:10 PM

A part of our group with members of the church went out into the neighborhoods by the church to invite people to Vacation Bible school and offer to pray for them. It was a great way to work on being more comfortable praying!

We had a group taking water out to a community in Nanjemoy, MD where the houses are not connected to running water. This ministry was organized through Lifestyles of Maryland.

The Catherine Foundation

by Rebekah Anderson | July 10, 2023 9:31 AM

Tody we split off and half our group headed to the Catherine Foundation. Ms. Amy started by sharing what services they provide. The Catherine Foundation provides five different types of services to pregnant women. They offer medical services like ultrasounds or pregnancy tests, material assistance like baby clothes, education (free classes), community outreach, and they spread the Gospel.

Sorting the Shopping Spree

by Morgan Shepherd | July 10, 2023 10:29 PM

The other half of the group went to Berry Elementary School where we are serving this week. It is such a blessing to be able to work with a public school, even with the behind the scenes work. Today we helped sort out many many packages with items for the next school year, along with tearing down old bulletin boards from the previous year.

Finishing Strong

by Rebekah Anderson | July 10, 2023 10:35 PM

Our group came back to the Catherine Foundation in the afternoon to finish up the power washing job. We stripped paint and cleaned walls in order to prep for another church to come in and paint the building. It is always encouraging to be a part of many churches working together!

Many Hands Make Light Work

by Morgan Shepherd | July 10, 2023 10:37 PM

In the afternoon, a group of us went to Lifestyles, which is an organization that supports people in need with clothing, food, and other necessities. We helped organize many of their various supply rooms and some of us even got to give food to some people in the community. We are thankful to be able to help Lifestyles in these projects so that they can focus on their other, larger tasks.

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner

by Rebekah Anderson | July 10, 2023 10:45 PM

Tonight for dinner Pastor Randy and First Baptist of Waldorf treated the team to Raising Canes. Cranberry Township does not have Raising Canes so it was exciting for the students to try a new fast food spot. We are so grateful to have a host church that encourages us!

by Rebekah Anderson | July 11, 2023 10:28 AM

This morning we took a group of Dutilh students and First Baptist students out to prayer walk together. We split up into groups and walked the neighborhood offering prayer. We also invited families to Vacation Bible School and we had two kids sign up! Afterward, we spent a few minutes playing on the playground.

by Morgan Shepherd | July 11, 2023 2:20 PM

In the afternoon, some of us went to another Lifestyles location to serve. Dwayne gave us a tour of the building, sharing about their shelter and how they help in this specific location. They house 25 people at night and also have a day program.

Church Projects

by Rebekah Anderson | July 11, 2023 2:38 PM

We are so grateful for the hospitality of First Baptist of Waldorf for hosting us this week. This afternoon some of our students stayed at the church to help out with various projects around the church. We set up the stage for VBS, moved around some storage areas, and cleaned the outside playground area. Here are some of the kids prepping the stage.

One of our projects was moving the large backdrop onto the stage. It was definitely a group effort but provided lots of laughs!

Worship at the Bay

by Rebekah Anderson | July 12, 2023 6:16 PM

Last night, we took a trip to Point Lookout State Park for our debrief and worship time. We sat on the beach and spent time worshiping together. We got to see a beautiful sunset and be in the stillness of God’s creation!

Testimony Time

by Rebekah Anderson | July 12, 2023 6:17 PM

To end our debrief, we split off into small groups and shared our testimonies. It was a special time of encouraging one another by sharing what God has done in our lives.

Summer School

by Rebekah Anderson | July 13, 2023 8:07 AM

On Wednesday morning, we went back over to Berry Elementary School to complete some final projects. We washed the cafeteria tables, moved furniture and boxes, and cleaned the desks in all the 5th grade classrooms. We really focused on giving 100% of our effort to God in all the tasks we did.

Prayer in the School

by Rebekah Anderson | July 13, 2023 8:11 AM

To finish out our time at the school, we walked through the classrooms and prayed for students, faculty, learning, friendships, and opportunities to learn about who Jesus is. It was really special to see how we were able to encourage the faculty through prayer. By partnering with First Baptist of Waldorf, we were able to make this partnership and strengthen the relationship between the church and school.

Packing Hygiene Bags

by Rebekah Anderson | July 13, 2023 8:16 AM

Wednesday afternoon a group of us went to Lifestyles to pack hygiene bags for an event that will happen in two weeks. Lifestyles provides many resources to people experiencing homelessness. We were happy to come alongside and help in any way we can!

David’s Tent

by Rebekah Anderson | July 14, 2023 9:35 AM

In the afternoon, we went to David’s tent. David’s tent is a 24 hour worship tent located in John Marshall Park. For the past 7 years, there has been constant prayer or worship happening. We loved getting to spend some time reflecting and worshiping.

Affirmation Time

by Rebekah Anderson | July 14, 2023 9:52 AM

For our debrief, we took time to affirm one another. We highlighted the ways each person worked hard, used their gifts, and impacted others in the group. It was an encouraging time!

Late Night Worship

by Rebekah Anderson | July 14, 2023 10:00 AM

We enjoyed our time at David’s Tent so much we decided to go back into the city and experience it late at night! We got there around midnight and spent time intentionally praying over each other. We left (at 1:30 am!) feeling encouraged and ready to continue to grow in our faith at home.
