Highland Park United Methodist

We have arrived safely in Jackson! We fed our bellies with delicious pizza and we were also fed through the word with an amazing worship service! Please be in prayer for our team as we go out to share Christ’s love in Jackson this week! 

This morning we enjoyed a beautiful service at Madison Methodist Church! So thankful for this church hosting us and serving us this week as we serve the community!

Today our church broke up into smaller groups and attended churches throughout the Jackson metro area! Our group went to Hilltop Church in Jackson. 

Today after lunch our group had the opportunity to learn about the history of Mississippi. Our group had the pleasure of checking out the Mississippi museum of history and the Mississippi Civil Rights museum.

Our “CityHeart” team is having an awesome time helping lead worship, arts and crafts time and Bible lessons with We Will Go’s Camp Hope today!

Our first ministry day we went to the Perkins foundation. We got to do some landscaping around the property, clean dishes, and organize different spaces! How amazing it was to see God be able to work through us to bless this foundation!

Today our group split up to do some landscaping and painting at both the men’s and women’s group homes at the care center in Jackson. We were able to clean up the property and start painting the porch.

This morning we joined Hilltop for their kids camp! We sang songs, learned about Adam and Eve, and made crafts! 

This morning we got to work with some kids from the gardening club at Canopy and work in the garden and clean out a shed. This afternoon we got to just hang out with the kids and love on them! 

Today after lunch our group got a tour of the facility at The Mustard Seed. We helped do some landscaping working around the campus and then we had the opportunity to meet the residents. 

After finishing serving at Perkins we went to City Heart Church! There we got to make care bags to hand out to different businesses in the Jackson area. Because City Heart is a new church, this was an awesome way to raise awareness of events that they are putting on as well as church services. As we handed out the care bags we were able to talk about City Heart Church and pray over those who we were talking to! So amazing to see God work in this way!

Today the team spent  the afternoon at Stewpot ministries, serving lunch in the soup kitchen. We served over 200 meals to the homeless and hungry in West Jackson. It was amazing getting to witness the youth of the church being the hands and feet of Christ. 

Today we got to go back to the Perkins Foundation and work on another property they own. There we got to do some more landscaping. It was so cool to see God work and move through something as simple as landscaping. It was very beneficial for the owner to have this property cleaned up so it wasn’t over run by weeds. 

Part of our team here at We will go kids camp has been having an awesome time making new art projects and inspiring creativity with all our new friends this week! Today we’re making cross sun catchers :)

Today we learned the hand motions to our theme song of the week! We also learned that Christ is the door to salvation and made some door hangers! 

Today our team got to hear more about the Stewpot Ministry and the many ways they serve to meet the needs of the local community.

Our group finished up some flower gardens before lunch. We tilled the soil and planted new plants! 

This morning we went to another property of the Perkins foundation to help Marcus and Roderick with the landscaping! What an amazing opportunity for us to come along side these two men who work for the foundation and be able to give them some extra hands. They normally have to do all the properties of the Perkins Foundation by themselves and God has provided some help! Also how great is God to provide a way for us to help uplift these properties and make them look more beautiful!

After finishing landscaping we went to Cityheart Church to help paint some chairs they are making for their children’s building! 

We had a blast today with the Camp Care kids at Yogi Bear Water Park! We played in the pool, on the slides, and even played with water guns! 

We took a break for lunch in the shade! We had so many sweet conversations with the kids! 

Our teams serving at We Will Go kids camp today got the amazing opportunity to accompany founder Amy Lancaster on a neighborhood prayer walk around the area.

We got to learn all about the personal callings behind the ministry and history of the area.

This morning is our last day serving at the Perkins Foundation! It has been such an amazing week coming along side Deborah, Marcus, and Roderick to help bless these properties and neighborhoods!

So grateful for this opportunity to be a light for Christ while doing some landscape work!

Here in the Bible room at We Will Go’s Camp Hope we’ve been having a blast dancing, celebrating and praising God with our classes before the Bible lesson every day. 

These kids love to dance! And we love to join them :)

Today at camp we sang about Gods love and drew our Fathers house! 

Today our group partnered with the care center to help them with their ministry called Soul Snatchers. We grilled burgers and hot dogs and gave free food to all who needed it. We served hundreds of people and prayed over them as well. 

For our rec day we went out for lunch and then headed to Crystal Lake to go Kayaking! After Kayaking we enjoyed a fun scavenger hunt around the city of Jackson!
