CALVARY CHRISTIAN CENTER

Rich and Naomi have been working with Pastor Josiah, the host Pastor, to make sure everything is ready for the team! 6 hours left on a very long flight, and they will arrive. We can't wait! We will be waiting at the gate with members of the church to greet the team the minute they walk through the exit. Then straight to the hotel for a late dinner and much needed rest.

PRAYER WARRIORS - Please, pray over this trip. That we may have a restful night, good health, and a week full of God-led ministry. We feel his presence on this trip already. We have been praying over the community, the pastors, and the team members continuously. Now we pray for God to direct our steps, words, and ministry. We know He has bigger plans than we can even imagine. We will be posting updates as often as the internet allows.

Today was a beautiful day. We spent the morning worshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ, introduced ourselves to the congregation, and fellowshipped together. The Lord is present with us on this trip and we feel the spirit moving in big ways that have yet to be revealed. Keep us in your prayers as we begin preparing for VBS, food ministry, prayer ministry and children's home visits this week.

Today was a full day. We shopped for food ministry, prepared for VBS, and prayed over the community we are working in. God led us to exactly who needed prayer as we walked the streets of Evaton North. We spent most of today getting to know the people in the community we are serving in. 

Part of VBS today was taking the children to the playing field next to the church and playing frisbee, soccer, and jump rope. We had so much fun! 

Today we visited 2 orphanages and prayed over the children and staff. Many of the orphanages in this area are run by every day people who are trying to help the kids. They don't get support from the government, which makes it incredibly difficult for them. They rely on kindness and the surrounding community for what they need.

Some of the most beautiful friendships have been made in some down time at the church. We have been playing games, ministering, and speaking into the lives of all we encounter.

We are up to nearly 250 children now for VBS. Praise God! Tomorrow is our last day of VBS, and we are ending it with a huge cookout for the entire community! Please pray for our team as we prepare for hundreds of people to come to the church tomorrow. 

Today we had a BBQ for all the children at VBS. We had hamburgers, hotdogs, and Kentucky fried chicken. The kids had so much fun with the team this week as we served the community, the church, and the Lord.

Today we took a guided tour bus into Johannesburg and explored all of the historical landmarks. We visited FNB Stadium, Nelson Mandela House, Soweto, museums, shopping, a nice dinner, and the famed Soweto Tours. What an incredibly full and informative day as we learned more about the history and culture of where we are.
