First Baptist Church of Augusta

The team has arrived and is excited to serve in the Washington, DC area this week! 

The team enjoyed a bilingual church service this morning and Pastor David shared about their desire to serve in Washington, DC.

The team enjoyed a delicious lunch meal made by Hughes United Methodist Church. They were also able to get to know the congregation a little.

The team is ready for the kids to arrive at Day 1 of VBS!

The team enjoyed game time full of parachutes and bubbles with the VBS kids this morning.

The team made many friends on day one of VBS and built relationships with the church members! 

Our team's group leader, David, took special time with one of the VBS children who was having a few meltdowns. He did an awesome job getting her calm and back on track. She was just missing her momma a little bit.

The team worked hard in the heat to distribute over 500 bags of food to families this afternoon! The Hughes United Methodist Church volunteers for this every Tuesday so we were thankful for the opportunity to be a part of it. 

The team enjoyed doing crafts with the VBS kids today after a lesson on Exodus 3 about Moses and the Burning Bush.

Our team showed extra compassion to one of the VBS children who was having a teary moment . She did an great job of keeping her calm and giving her lots of love. Soon she was back to enjoying her snacks and having a fun!

The team shared lots of laughs with the VBS kids today as they ended the afternoon with water games and a water ballon fight.

The VBS kids had a lesson on Zacchaeus and how God loves everybody and wants to have a relationship with us all. They then did crafts with Zacchaeus in the tree! 

The team said “see you later” to the VBS kids and Hughes United Methodist Church after a blessed week of serving the church and community. The team is back home safe and ready to spread His light to the community!
