Dorla Gordon
House of Refuge
Testimony:
Pastor Dorla tells us her testimony: “I am from the River Valley Area of Belize District. I grew up religious, but I didn't know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior until I was invited to an Evangelical church, learned about truly worshipping the Lord, and accepting Jesus as my Savior. In 1975 I was sent by my church to study at a Bible college in Mandeville, Jamaica, for 2 years. I was trained in the work of the Lord and came back to my home church in 1977 where I continued to serve in different capacities. Later my church became stagnant and God spoke to me to start the ministry of House of Refuge with permission from my late pastor.
Meet the church:
House of Refuge
House of Refuge started in the basement of Pastor Dorla Gordon in 2005. It began as a Sunday School and slowly grew into a full-fledged church. In 2008, the church feeding program began reaching the community two days a week. And soon after, the church began a monthly special service for children and their parents with special skits, songs, and Bible lessons. Many programs began taking shape in the years following, like sewing classes, a youth program, manicure and pedicure classes and more! In 2015, the Lord began stirring Pastor Dorla’s heart to move into a larger area and they have been taking the Gospel into the villages since then. Once a month they go into these places and serve locals with the love of Jesus.
