In February 2023, earthquakes struck southwestern Turkey. It is estimated that 45,000 people perished, thousands of buildings were destroyed, and countless people injured or displaced across the country. At PPM, our heart is to build up, encourage, and assist the local Church around the world, and that includes in these times of greatest need. ? We have seen time and time again that in times of crisis, the Church is on the front lines, showing up for their communities and assisting those in need. This is a powerful demonstration of the love of Christ, but we know it is tiring, so it’s our heart to come alongside local leaders and provide support and encouragement. With only 0.2% of the population identifying as Christian, the need to support those being the light of Christ to those around them is even greater. Christianity has faced a massive decline in Turkey, from 22% of the population in 1900 to 0.21% in 2010. Few of today’s 73 million Turkish Muslims have heard the gospel.
