Henry Baizar
Sand Hill Baptist
Testimony:
Pastor Henry tells us his testimony: My name is Henry Joseph Baizar and on December 31, 1990, at Galilee Baptist Church in Belize City, I decided to accept what Christ had done for me by dying on the cross and follow him. This was a surprise to my family and friends as I was known as a person who worked hard, loved sports and “partied hearty”. After my decision I began to study the Bible with one of my church brothers and a few months later I took another step in following Jesus by getting baptized. I continued to grow, learning how to present the gospel and giving 15 minute sermons. Sometime later I was given a scholarship to pursue pastoral training through a variety of places and institutions. In 2005 the pastor at Sandhill Baptist Church retired and I took up the position. I have now completed 18 years of service as a pastor and must admit that at times I have found the position to be challenging spiritually and financially, but God has seen me through.
Meet the church:
Sand Hill Baptist
In early 1980 Missionary Rev. Otis Brady hosted a tent crusade at the Baptist Retreat Center in Sandhill and it was a huge success and many souls were saved and came to know the Lord. Out of this time. Sandhill Baptist Church was born. After a time, Bro. Ted Stansberry from the US, felt called by God to migrate to Belize as Director of the Retreat Center and pastor the fledgling church. He moved his family of four down and stayed for several years. A piece of land was acquired and many came to help with the construction of the facilities. The building was completed in 1985. The congregation grew rapidly and over the years, they’ve experienced leadership changes and new members joining consistently! In 2005, Bro. Henry Baizar was invited to pastor the church and he is still the lead pastor today.
