Pastor
Glenda Cox
Beacon Hill Nazarene
Pastor Testimony:
Pastor Cox was 16 years old when she came to know Jesus as her Savior. She had just traveled to the Capital (Nassau) from Crooked Island in search of employment. She attended a church service and accepted Christ in her heart. Ever since, God has been faithful to her and she never turned back. She kept going to church even though she was struggling with work and college. She became active in the youth department and the youth choir and in time, grew stronger in the Lord. She prayed and ask God to send her a Christian husband. She met him when she was 20. They got married and became active in church together. What a journey it has been shepherding the Lord’s people in the Carmichael Road area, amidst the trials and ups and downs, she prays she continues to serve God until He is ready to call her home.
Meet the church:
Beacon Hill Nazarene
Beacon Hill Church of the Nazarene was started in 1987 when Pastor Cox and her husband felt the call to ministry. They started in their living room in 1997, but with the help of the international Church, they were able to purchase a property where the church sits still today. Her husband died in 1999 and she was established, after the congregation voted, as the new pastor in 2000. The church is important in the community today because of the aid it provided during the pandemic. Whether with grocery, physical, or emotional needs, the church was there to assist. They also help with educational needs and finding employment for people.
