Pastor Carlos got married in 1986 and worked as a secretary and president of a youth ministry, then in a local gentlemen's ministry as treasurer and later on, as a deacon. After that, he became a teacher at a local college and during that time, he began hearing the calling of God to ministry - but he ignored it. Later, he sustained critical injuries from a fall and ended up with metal plates and over 30 screws in each leg. It was at this time he listened to the Lord’s calling and began to preach in a home-church setting. He had the conviction to begin preaching in the communities in the ravines, near his area, but he would have to be carried, due to his injuries. It was then that Iglesia Jireh was founded and he gives all the glory to God for his healing, the growth of the church and the Gospel being sent out.
