Pastor Ruiz recalls his story for us, saying “I worked in a farm about 5 kilometers from the city of Matagalpa and I had heard a little about the Gospel but I had not shown any interest. But at the beginning of June a prayer cell was established near of my house, and my daughter left my house without me knowing, to go listen to the songs being sung. I went to pick her up and the Lord spoke to me through the teaching and thus I received Christ in my heart on June 15, 1979! I worked as a leader in the local church and then I joined the Bible Institute. In 1983 the Lord called me to the pastoral ministry and since then I have been pastoring for the grace of God.”

Iglesia Luz y Esperanza
Iglesia Luz y Esperanza San Dionisio Matagalpa, was founded in 1982, but at the start, the community wasn’t receptive to the Christian faith being spoken. But the members of the church continued to evangelize and share the Gospel, despite the persecution they faced. The Pastor is currently Reverend Humberto Valdivia Ruiz who was born in Trinidad in 1955, he is the one who has pastored this congregation since 1995. Currently, new congregations have been opened in the communities of Piedras Largas, Las Cuchillas, Los limones and El Jicaro - each congregation is being led by members of the Light and Hope Church. In addition, mass evangelizations are carried out with all the churches in the district and distribution of food to low-income people. Their goals as a church are to win and consolidate souls for Lord Jesus Christ and then send them to fulfill the great commission to make more disciples.
