PPM Disaster Response: Hurricane Lee

Want Info?

As of Thursday(9/14) morning Hurricane Lee is still tracking towards New England and Coastal Canada.  Lee has sustained winds of 90mph making it a strong Cat. 1 storm.  Meteorologists are predicting that Lee could strengthen as it moves closer to the coast tomorrow and into the weekend. Stonington, Maine and the surrounding areas have been put under a Hurricane Watch along with parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  PPM is in contact with our partners on the East Coast and in Prince Edward Island.  We will be monitoring the storm throughout the weekend and will be updating this page with any news we get from our partners on the ground.  Please join us in prayer that the storm will not gain strength and that the impact will be minimal.  Pray for the safety of all those in the path of the storm.

Updates From The Field

The Storm has Passed

by Dillon Crum | September 18, 2023 9:51 AM

Over the weekend Tropical Storm Lee passed over parts of Canada and skirted by parts of New England.  At this time one loss of life has been reported.  The majority of the damage occurred in Nova Scotia which saw many trees come down and storm surges of 3 feet along the coast.  As of Monday(9/18) morning 50,000 homes and businesses are without power in Nova Scotia.  Our partners in Prince Edward Island have assured us they are alright and they were still able to have Sunday service.  We want to thank God the impact of Lee was minimal and that our partners are safe.  Thank you for joining with us in prayer and for checking in on our partners.  We will be updating our social media page moving forward if there are more updates related to Lee.

Weekend Impact

by Dillon Crum | September 15, 2023 5:30 PM

PPM has been in contact with our partners in New England and Prince Edward Island.  They are prepared for the storm.  Our partners in Prince Edward Island have expressed that at this point there is a lot of anxiety as they have not yet finished the clean up from Hurricane Fiona which affected them last year.  Hurricane Lee is currently moving north at 20mph and has sustained winds of 80mph.  Hurricane Watches have remained in effect for the areas of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  Tropical Storm warnings have been issued for coastal areas in Maine as well, with storm surge and rain expected to cause flooding in certain areas.  Please continue to join us in prayer for the safety of everyone in the path of the storm.  Pray also that the peace of the Lord will rest on the people of Prince Edward Island and help calm their anxiety.  Continue to monitor this page throughout the weekend as we get more updates from our partners.
