Haiti Political Unrest Update

PPM Disaster Response: Haiti Political Unrest Update

Want Info?

Over the past couple of weeks, protesters in Haiti have taken to the streets to express their frustrations towards the current economic crisis and widespread political corruption. Many people across the country have been discontent with the current presidential administration, and the opposition political party has sprung into action. These protests have posed significant issues for the country, blocking many main roads. As a result, schools have not been in session and businesses have been closed. We have heard reports that the situation has calmed in the last few days and that businesses and schools are expected to reopen this week.

We are continually monitoring the situation, both through our staff on the ground in Haiti and from afar. We are rerouting or rescheduling many of our PPM Haiti teams scheduled to travel in March, but are praying and hopeful that the situation will continue to improve. We ask for continued prayer for Haiti, for our partner pastors who love hosting our teams, and for our staff who rely on the PPM trips to support themselves and their families.

If your team needs to relocate your trip, whether you are currently a PPM group or not, we have many locations that are ready to receive you. Both international and domestic trip options are available for this spring and summer; all with the heart to build up, encourage, and assist the local church.

Updates From The Field

Monday, February 25th

by Rudy Bazin | February 25, 2019 3:53 PM

We continue to hear good reports from our Haitian brothers and sisters. School is back in session. Businesses and banks are opened. Traffic is flowing in its usual congested manner.  We are so thrilled to see life get back to normal!

Continue joining us in prayer for a lasting peace.

We heard some great news today from one of our PPM Haiti trip leaders, James Bazin!

"I want to thank everyone for lifting Haiti and its people in prayers for these last three weeks. I don’t like posting about those type of things because I know there are enough people/media out there to do that. But there will not be as many to tell the good news.

After 10 consecutive days of protests and total lockdown, the people of Haiti are finally able to go back to their daily activities. Students are going back to school, markets and gas stations are back open. Most importantly, our crazy traffic is back! Everything is slowly falling back to place."

Please continue to pray that this peace holds and join us in praising God for His provision!
