FAQs
PPM exists to build up, encourage, and assist the local Church in serving and reaching their communities for Christ. ATLs are considered part-time, temporary/seasonal staff. As a seasonal staff member, you’ll spend time investing in these genuine partnerships by facilitating spiritual, logistical and relational aspects of these short term mission opportunities. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Spending intentional time getting to know the team, host church, and PPM staff each week
-Being a site leader during daily ministry time while encouraging, facilitating, and providing supervision in addition to participating in the ministry alongside the team
-Preparing meals for the team, monitoring supplies and running errands, site organization and clean up
-Assisting in leading evening devotions and facilitating Gospel centered conversations during debrief meetings
-Other tasks as delegated by the Trip Leader
Our biggest needs are in the months of March, early April, June and July. We do have trips year round, and sometimes have needs for seasonal staff then as well, but cannot keep someone busy every week of the year with this role. Most hiring happens in preparation for those busy spring and summer months.
-Application Launch- Generally in the Fall (October) for the upcoming season
-Application Review- October-February
-Candidate Interviews- We generally begin conducting video call interviews in November and continue hosting them thereafter as we receive applications. Please know that it can take some time to get back to candidates in scheduling interviews, particularly at the start of our season (late Fall) as we begin collecting all new applications coming in. Thank you for your patience.
-Offers & On boarding- Position offers generally begin to go out in the New Year, and continue through the spring until we have hired for all position vacancies
-Placement Week- Location placements and weeks of service assignments for summer are given out at the very end of March/beginning of April, in preparation for the Spring Conference
-Spring Conference- Generally held at the end of April for training, fellowship and summer launch, a mandatory in person event for most staff
-Summer Service- Weeks of service assigned based on your availability and PPM's need, generally between early June- early August
We do NOT have an application deadline, but priority applications should be submitted before January 1st. We collect applications and begin hiring from the time they open until we have built a well rounded team and hired the appropriate amount of staff needed to facilitate the number of trips on our calendar. If you are available to serve in the Winter or Spring and we are interested in scheduling an interview, we will be in contact sooner to fast track the above timeline.
You must be at least 18 years of age at the time of service. Hire is dependent on the passing of a criminal background check. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
To be a paid staff member, you must be able to successfully complete an I-9 form by the end of your first day of employment, otherwise you will be considered a volunteer.
PPM has a training platform called Pelican University that consists of a variety of online courses that would be assigned to seasonal staff based on their role, required to complete prior to their first trip. These range from topics related to PPM’s heart and vision, to abuse prevention and non-harassment training, to safe driver’s training, to how to create a trip journal, and more. Additionally, many staff will be invited to attend our spring conference which takes place usually at the end of April. This is an in person event where year round and seasonal staff alike participate in training for their positions. Several host pastors and guests are also invited, so it’s a great time of fellowship, networking, worship, and vision casting for the season.
PPM will cover expenses related to airfare, meals and lodging while you serve. Additional compensation will be given for applicable weeks of service. The amount can vary depending on the number of weeks you serve and your role during the season. There are a few locations that are considered “premium locations” which have significantly higher airfare ticketing expenses. PPM may require the first week of service to be on a volunteer basis to assist in offsetting that higher flight cost in those locations. Pay rates and logistics would be discussed further in the interview process.
If you receive an offer to serve with PPM as a seasonal staff, chances are it would be a generic offer that does not contain location information or specific dates, rather a note that we would use you for as much of your availability as possible as it aligns with our needs. This is because we have what is called “Placement Week”, which typically takes place at the very end of March each year where we send out every staff’s schedule and location assignments at the same time. We wait until this time because there are many teams still registering late into the spring, and we are still hiring staff. We are very prayerful in our placement process, and have a much better idea of where our true staffing needs lie at that time. If you are hired in April or later, you may be given your dates or location(s) in your offer.
We are hiring currently for US based locations, so your placement would be within the States.
We don’t have one main site! Our base is the local church. When you serve on any given week, the likelihood of your lodging site being the local church partner is pretty high! You will most likely sleep on an air mattress at the church with the other staff and team participants. We typically do our best to ensure there is a separate sleeping room/area for staff (separated by gender) as well depending on the size of the lodging facility. At the end of the week, if you are going to be serving in the same city again, you will typically pack up your belongings and move to another church for your next week of service.
*On rare occasions, you may stay at a camp, bunkhouse, or hotel, depending on the team’s lodging selection. Regardless of lodging accommodation selection, PPM staff always lodge onsite with the team for safety purposes.
A devoted Christ follower who is eager to share the Gospel with those around them. Someone who is excited about using their God given gifts and talents to build up, encourage, and assist the local church while encouraging others to do the same. We are seeking individuals who are reliable, adaptable, ministry-minded, and have leadership experience in some form already, preferably in a missional or ministry setting. College students or teachers with the summer off, retirees with a flexible schedule, someone with an abundance of PTO, really anyone who has a minimum of 2-4 consecutive weeks to give is what we are looking for!
PPM values hiring staff locally within the regions they live to be able to pour into their own communities, as well as be good stewards of the resources that God has given us. However, we do highly encourage anyone to apply, as we often send staff to locations outside of their regions to be able to meet the ever increasing number of trips in all locations we serve.
We currently are only accepting applications through our website for those who live within the US. If you live in a region we serve outside the US, please connect with the Operations Manager directly about applying if there are any positions available. If you are unsure who to contact, you can email [email protected].
The Ministry Leader (ML) internship program runs from January-August and is designed for individuals to get a more in depth experience with both the pre-trip set up components of a mission trip as well as trip leading. Ministry Leaders will typically work up to 10 hours per week from January-May, spending time on various position related activities, including leadership development training, trip set-up, and consulting mission teams. They will serve on 1-2 spring trips, and will complete preparations and training to become Trip Leaders, leading 6-10 mission trips in the summer season, depending on need and scheduling. For more information on the Ministry Leader program, see the section covering this on this page!
