Four Ways to Support Local Ministries

Chances are, on your mission trip, you were introduced to local missions or ministries in the city, state or country you served in. Once you return home, you want to help get the word out about their ministry and support them! Here’s a few ways you can do just that:

1. Follow them on social media.

This may seem like a no-brainer, but following along with a local ministry online is an excellent way to boost their follower count, stay up to date with current happenings in their world and share with your friends about what they are up to! Share their posts to help get the word out about their ministry, prayer needs or funds needed on the ground.

2. Host a fundraiser on their behalf.

Want to give financially to their cause? Host a fundraiser once you get back home! Then, donate the money raised to their mission.

Can’t make a fundraiser work? Instead of gifts or money from family for your birthday or Christmas, ask for them to make a donation on your behalf to the ministry!

3. Ask them about needs.

So many times, local ministries have plenty of needs, but they need help making those needs known. If you are unsure of how to get involved, message them on social media or send them an email! Most organizations have websites with a “contact us” page, with details on how to contact them. Simply ask them how you can support them while living in another place!

4. Pray for them.

A lot of times, we forget the power that we hold inside of us - prayer. Prayer is our direct line of communication with the Lord - the One who gives us breath and life! Don’t forget to spend time in prayer for their leadership, those they encounter and the health of their mission!

Thank you for desiring to support and advocate for local ministries around the world!
