We Arrived!

by Team | July 31, 2010 7:31 PM

We made it! Our team safely arrived in Haiti today and we are now settled in to our lodging facility. Our lodging facility is about 45 minutes from the airport and we used all of that time to take in our surroundings as we drove through the heart of Port Au Prince. After arriving at the lodging facility, we settled in to our rooms and then had dinner. Fish and rice and beans were on the menu. Delicious! Following dinner, we had a team meeting where we met the rest of the group and received the schedule for tomorrow. Church is at 6am and it is expected to last 3 hours. We can't wait to experience what it is like to worship with another culture. Thank you so much for praying for us. We just received word that the power is going to go out soon, and it is almost time for bed. Pictures will have to wait until tomorrow. We are so excited to be serving in Haiti!

Awesome Sunday!

by 72066126.7736 | August 1, 2010 8:29 PM

This morning we woke up bright and early for our 6am church service. It was well worth it! Over 1500 people packed into the 3 hour long church service. It was so amazing to see how they worshiped. They even stood up and sang a song just for us! After church, we took some time to rest until lunch where we had our first taste of goat! We then piled into the bus and headed off to an orphanage. The kids at the orphanage were a ton of fun and it was an experience that will stay in my mind for a long time. It was hard to say goodbye as we drove away. On the way home from the orphanage, we stopped by the destroyed palace. It was very sad to see the destruction that the earthquake caused. We moved on after a few minutes and made it back to our lodging location for the night. God has granted us another amazing day and we can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Hi Caron and Leanne. Glad to hear you arrived safely. I love you and I miss you and am thinking about you. Please stay safe and HYDRATED. I saw a picture on the Salem Bible journal that looked like it might be you working on the wall. Is that you? Hope things are going OK.
