Hello Bahamas!

by Jenna Singletary | June 17, 2017 12:39 PM

We have finally arrived!

After an early morning and long day of travel we have made it to our lodging for the week and are getting settled down before heading to our host church.

Thank you for praying for us. We ask that you would continue to pray for our health throughout the week, for our relationships to grow with the locals, and for God to be the center of all our work.

Let the adventure begin!

Hello Bahamas!

Who needs sleep?

by AJ Walker | June 17, 2017 8:53 PM

The team wasted no time to get immersed in the culture. Just hours after getting off their plane we headed to the church we are partnered with to eat and attend a singing competition! Before the competition started they were able to hangout and play with some of the local kids! Once the concert started we were blown away by the talent of the locals! It was a great start to a first day.

Continue to to be in prayer as get some rest before church in the morning.

Haitian Church

by Jenna Singletary | June 18, 2017 1:57 PM

What a morning!

It is such a honor and challenge to attend a church in a completely different language. This morning we experienced worship and preaching in Creole. We might not have known what they were saying, but the presence of the Lord was thick in the room.

We were able to share a few testimonies and announce our VBS for the week. We then had a delicious lunch of Spaghetti!

This afternoon will be filled with a few adventures and VBS preparation. Bring it!

South Beach

by Jenna Singletary | June 18, 2017 7:35 PM

We had the opportunity to head to a local beach this afternoon. There was no swimming. No sunbathing. No sports.

We prayed. We prayed at the beach where so many Haitians risk their lives to find a better lifestyle. We prayed for the local church as they welcome new family members. We prayed for the people we get to do life with this week.

God is so good and we are being so stretched. We also had the opportunity to go to a local grocery store and we walked around a few communities inviting kids to VBS!

It's been a long and amazing day!

Join us in praying for our VBS tomorrow! We are excited!

Hey Peyton!

by Jenna Singletary | June 18, 2017 7:38 PM

We wanted to share a little love with Peyton! It was so fun getting to share her name and take a few pictures with kids as we walked around our communities today.

Peyton, you are greatly missed and greatly prayed for.

Hey Peyton!

Island time

by AJ Walker | June 19, 2017 2:44 PM

Today was our first day putting on a Vacation Bible School for the local kids. It was all planned out to start at 9, but actually didn't start until almost 10. We have definitely been taught to just role with the flow here and the team is killing it!

I didnt get an exact head count but I'm sure we had at least 50-60 kids at one point. The team is doing such a great job with the children. The kids learned songs, learned a bible story, played games, and even made some crafts! They are resting up now until they get started painting the church! All prayers are still greatly appreciated.

They keep multiplying

by AJ Walker | June 20, 2017 12:30 PM

This morning looked very similar for us. We got up bright and early for eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Then VBS got under way. The kids almost doubled in number!! It was amazing to see roughly 120 kids getting loved on. We got to meet a lot of new faces and the team killed it!

We we are now resting up for another full afternoon of building this church up physically and spiritually. We greatly appreciate all the prayers! We'll be back tonight with an update.

Job Well Done

by AJ Walker | June 20, 2017 8:55 PM

This afternoon after everyone, and I mean everyone woke up from a nap we got work on finishing our painting project and cleaning the church to an almost spotless shine!

Overall the day day was a great one and we can't wait to see what God has in store for tomorrow. It will be our last ministry day so pray for God to really move in big ways since it will be the last time we see these amazing people!

VBS Craze!!

by Jenna Singletary | June 21, 2017 10:55 AM

Today has been wild!! We've had SO many kids join us for VBS and it has been awesome.

This morning we got to enjoy a little rain, a power outage, and the usual island way of doing things. God is stretching us and molding us to be His disciples to the ends of the Earth.

Keep praying for us! Our day is far from over. As we wrap up VBS, we head out to do Food Distribution and prepare for our Community Night.

Food for Days!

by Jenna Singletary | June 21, 2017 11:00 PM

This afternoon we had the joy of delivering groceries and clothes to 12 different families. We were able to encourage, pray, and sit with the families.

Listening to their stories was gut-wrenching, but knowing we serve a God full of love and mercy gave us confidence in knowing their future.

Community Night

by Jenna Singletary | June 21, 2017 11:05 PM

To say this evening was amazing would be an understatement. We gathered all the kids and all the church members for one final night of celebration!

The kids helped us recall bible stories, received certificates for their attendance, and chowed down on some delicious dinner! It was spectacular!

We had to say our good-byes tonight. It is not easy leaving this place we have grown to love and have been adopted into, but we know our journey is not over.

Continue to pray for health and strength as we make our way through our final day in the Bahamas!

Queen's Staircase

by Jenna Singletary | June 22, 2017 9:26 AM

We began our recreation day by heading down to the Queen's Staircase. It was so beautiful!

The deep blue

by AJ Walker | June 22, 2017 8:37 PM

Rec day was a blast!! We got to see a lot more of the Bahamas. We got to shop, barter, and snorkel Turtle Reef then catch this beautiful sunset. As our time comes to an end we are amazed at what God has done and can't wait to share everything with you!

You've seen and experienced such amazing things this week in the lives of those kids and others you've served for God. Know that God will multiply that so much more! We love you and will keep praying for you long after you come home!

Sounds like God is not only sending missionaries from the north, south, east, and west, but kids for VBS, too! All I can think is, "WOW!!" You all are leaving a lasting footprint of Jesus on the hearts of the kids on the island. With a full heart, Tracy

Hey guys, I hope you all are having a great time and I really miss you all. I love seeing all of the pictures with flat Peyton, keep them coming. It really means a lot to see the kids smiling faces holding flat Peyton and it really feels like I'm practically there with you all. I can't wait to hear all about the trip.

Thank you for serving God in this way. Learning about other cultures is a wonderful educational experience. Seeing how God has gone before you and has already worked for you will be an amazing truth. Good bless!

So good to hear you arrived safe and all is well! As you embody the presence of Jesus, we're praying that you may encounter him among the people there, as well. (BTW - love the pic with "Flat Peyton")

We pray the Spirit of God overwhelms you, gives you strength and vision, and enables you to break down barriers and project an image of what a diverse world with a common love can look like. Be safe, stay healthy.

We are all so proud of each one of you for seeking to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ! I pray that God will reveal to you the blessings He has for each of you and that He'll also reveal the blessings for others that he wants to work through you! So many in your church family are praying for you and that God works miracles in your lives and the lives of the children and adults you connect with this week. We love you all.
