We are here

by Brent Kirk | July 2, 2017 12:13 AM

The team has arrived safe and sound. After a long flight delay in Atlanta, we finally made it to Jamaica 3 hours past our scheduled arrival time. Once loaded onto the bus we headed for our lodging camp for the week.

Once at camp, we were greeted with a great meal of chicken, potatoes, macaroni salad and more. Bellies are full now off to bed as we will be up in 6 hours for breakfast and off to church. Good night everyone

Good Morning from Jamaica!!!  The girls looked beautiful this morning even after a short night.  They were all smiles as they waited to eat their first Jamaican breakfast and then head off to experience worship Jamaican style.  Its going to be a fantastic day!!

Handsome Men!!!

by Cathy Kirk | July 2, 2017 4:59 PM

The boys were not as eager to get their picture taken this morning. Haha  We had to give them a gentle nudge to pose for us.   They said they all slept great last night.  Everyone was exhausted after a long day of travel and the long flight delay.  They are ready for some food and then to head out for the hour long bus ride down the mountain to worship.  They were all excited to check out the Jamaica countryside in the daylight.  :)

Everyone enjoyed the  Jamaican praise and worship this morning.  It was complete with some fun interactive songs.  Can you tell that they were having fun?  :)

Excited to Familiar Faces

by Cathy Kirk | July 2, 2017 5:04 PM

I always love when children come back year after year as they see the teams arrive.  This handsome boy couldn't have been more excited to see Hannah and Amy and the rest of the team this morning.  He was all smiles and said he can't wait to come back this week to hang out with them as they prepare and pour a ton of concrete.

Miss Miss a Picture Please

by Cathy Kirk | July 3, 2017 10:22 PM

The children absolutely loved Aracely, she spent so much time pouring into and loving on each child she came in contact with.  The joy is evident on everyone's face.

Just a Piece of Paper!!

by Cathy Kirk | July 3, 2017 10:24 PM

Yes they were just pieces of paper that created a ton of paper airplanes but the joy that came with a simple sheet of paper was truly a blessing to witness.  The children had an absolute blast with them on the playground today.  They were "Soaring" for Jesus!"

A Hard Day's Work

by Cathy Kirk | July 3, 2017 10:30 PM

The team worked tirelessly today in the hot sun.  Mixing and pouring the floor of the kitchen that they started last year for York Street Church of Christ.  The ladies from the church will be thrilled when they have a new kitchen to cook meals in for the members as well as people in the community.

A Little Loving!!

Lizzie loving on one of the boys that has been by her side this week while we have been working at the church.  He just had to get a picture with her today before we left.

Muscle Man!

by Cathy Kirk | July 4, 2017 8:51 PM

The highlight of my day today was watching Mark interact with this group of children.  They all had a shovel and were "helping" move dirt that we had shoved and moved out of the church property.  Mark was beyond patient with them even when they were fighting over the shovels.  He showed them how to spread the dirt out and they followed his lead every step of the way.

They began flexing their muscles for him, it was absolutely hysterical watching them.  They of course wanted him to Flex his muscles so they could feel them.  What great joy he brought to these children today as he spent a ton of quality time teaching and loving on them.

Hard Working Crew

by Cathy Kirk | July 4, 2017 8:53 PM

The concrete was flowing today.  The team worked hard to begin pouring the driveway for the church.  They were all exhausted after their hard days work.  The team is amazing, they work without complaining and pour every ounce of energy they have into all that they do.

If you ever have an opportunity to serve in Jamaica with Cathy and Brent "jump" at the chance! The joy of serving our Lord and hugging all those precious people always blesses my life as much as theirs. God is good by allowing us to serve in Jamaica with praying pelican and truly see the work of His hands.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! We had such a good time and all of us were so blessed. Great job, as always, by Brent and Cathy to organize, feed, and love us during our week. It was a such a joy and opportunity to minister and love on our Jamaican brothers and sisters. I especially loved all the kids!
