We made it to Memphis! This afternoon we met the rest of our group and trip leaders at Monument of Love Baptist Church. There, we got to welcome people for the Compassion 3-1-1 concert. We also got to attend the concert and worship alongside people from the community. We ended our night with dinner at Tops BBQ right down the street from the church.
Now, we are resting up for church in the morning!

This morning we got to join the church in Sunday School and worship! For Sunday School, we split up into the different age group classes and had an awesome time discussing godly principles with the church members.
The worship was full of energy and praising God. We got to hear some more great singing and a message from Pastor Joyce's father.

After church, we had a short orientation meeting and got to eat lunch. We then went with Pastor Joyce over to the Graceland Nursing Home. Pastor Joyce goes to minister there on the 2nd Sunday of every month.
We got to help the men and women get into the room where we had another short church time filled with singing, testimonies, prayer, and a message. Some of us got to participate by reading scripture, sharing testimonies, and praying. After the service, we got to visit with the men and women while taking them back to their rooms.

Before dinner, we got to walk around the neighborhood to let people know about the kids camp we will be hosting this week.
We were able to put flyers on doors and are praying for God to send lots of kids our way this week!

This morning we had a slight change of plans due to some rainy weather. We started the morning with a conversational training. We got to know each other better and learn some new things to help us in talking to others this week.
Afer that, we got to go to the Community of St. Therese of Liseiux. Sandra, the founder, met us there and shared about the ministry she started for women with backgrounds of addiction and prostitution.

This afternoon we got to start our kids camp at the church! We shared about God's love and the story of the prodigal son. We had lots of fun with the kids coloring, playing football, face painting, and finger nail painting.
We are excited to see the kids again tomorrow!

After a wonderful dinner prepared by Sister Robinson, we headed over to Calvary Rescue Mission. This is a place for homeless men to come and eat dinner, have a Chapel service, and have a place to sleep.
We got to attend the Chapel service and we had cupcakes and cookies for them afterwards. While they ate their sweets, we got to sit and talk with them and here some of their stories.

This morning we got to do some painting at the church! We got almost all of it finished and had a great time working together. Some of us also got a chance to split up and do some smaller projects, such as organizing a closet, vacuuming, and sweeping.

Today we were excited to have a few new kids show up to hang out with us at the church. Today we talked about FAITH and the story of David and Goliath. After the big group time, we break into small groups and get to discuss the story more. Following that time, we have have fun and snacks!
They guys usually go outside to play ball while the girls hang out inside with face painting and finger nail painting.

Today we got to take dessert to serve at Calvary Rescue Mission. We made banana pudding, and took brownies and ice cream. It all got eaten real quick after chapel!

Wednesday morning, we started our day at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Mission. There we had the opportunity to serve a meal to people in the community. Some of us served, some passes out hygiene kits, and some cleaned up as people left their tables. We had a great time getting to visit with the people who came in.

Wednesday afternoon we had our last day with the kids. We grew in numbers every day, which was exciting to see!
We talked about Jonah and the whale.
After meeting with the large group, we broke up into small groups for discussion one last time. It has been so special to have that time with them.
To end the day, we had more face painting, basketball, finger nail painting, and coloring. We were all having such a fun time the kids did not even want to leave. After our closing prayer, many of them hung out for a while.

We had such a great time at Calvary Rescue Mission talking with the men on Tuesday night, that we decided to surprise them and go back Wednesday night.
We showed up with ice cream and sat and talked with them for a while after chapel.
It was such a sweet time that we will remember!

Today was our fun day in the city. We went to a coffee shop and hung out downtown this morning. For lunch, we ate at Aldo's Pizza. Then, we headed to the zoo! We had a great day!
We ended the day at the church with our whole group and Gus's Fried Chicken. After dinner, we had our closing meeting. We got to talk about taking missions home and ended the meeting with affirmations for everyone!
