Update from Milford Bible Church
Computer center!

by PPM Staff | July 22, 2010 9:37 AM

One of the most amazing things we have been able to do down here is to set up a computer center so that the church can be a resource to help students develop critical skills to help them succeed and break out of the cycle of poverty. It was amazing to see the students come alive as we taught them basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This could not have been possible without all of the generous donations provided by the members of Milford church. Thank You so much for your generosity! We were also able to give a laptop to the Pastor of Mt. Charles Baptist Church, Rev. Eswine Haye. We cannot begin to tell you how blessed and excited he was to receive this gift, which will be a tremendous ministry tool. He has been non-stop smiles! Thank You!

Steve & Jenny, I know you are getting home about now, but we just wanted to let you know that we thought of you and your team this week and pray that your work there will continue on in the lives that you touched. We love you both soooo much and can't wait to hear about your trip! Oh, I (Aunt Brittany), especially appreciated the pic of Steve standing on his head! :)

I enjoyed a wonderful time of prayer with 5 ladies here at our home this afternoon! We prayed for each of you as you finish your time there that you would continue to minister to the Jamaicans and for a safe travel home. We all LOVE the wristbands and enjoyed telling stories about them. God be with you for your last night and travels home tomorrow!! I can't wait to see you Jon and hear your "Jon laugh"! Love & Hugs, Cindy O'Brien

Hey Guys. I just wanted to let you know that these wrist bands are a hit. Several of my co-workers have asked why I'm weaing it, and has open up incredible conversations, about you all and the ministry your doing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and the lives you are touching as well as the lives here you have touched. God bless you and I'll see you at the Airport.... Z, I miss you...

Hey Team!! Just a thought or two for you guys as you come to an end to this part of God's work....no doubt you are all changed people, coming home to family and friends that have missed you. Your hearts may be heavy at the thought of leaving the new connections you have made, but remember that we are ALL ONE CHURCH, you are going to see many of them again!! So, although you are winding down, know that you have DELIGHTED the Father's Heart this week, and we know that Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." I will be praying for your "goodbyes", I know how hard they will be. We are anxious and excited to see ALL OF YOU!

"What A Mighty God We Serve". It is awesome to see how God is working both there in Jamaica and here at home..simultaneously. The bracelets are definitely working here as a means to share with others what God is doing in Jamaica through the MBC Youth Group Ministry. Thank you for the pictures and the daily updates. We pray for you daily that God's light will shine through you in whatever task He sets before you, and the info you send gives us more specifics to pray for.May God continue to richly Bless each and everyone there. We know your hearts will be forever touched by the memories of this mission trip as will be the hearts and minds of the Jamaican children. We love you & miss you all. Shine On!

Hi everyone, it is so exciting to read the high lights of what you're doing, and how the Lord is using you there. A very descriptive name for God is Jehovah Jira - The Lord Provider; and He has shown Himself as just that, so far this week. From everyone getting there safely, to the luggage making it without any loss or damage, to getting the computers set up, and the great response in the VBS program. I can't wait to see how things continue to proceed through the rest of this week. Praying for the Lord to continue to guide, protect, and work in the hearts of each of you as you minister in His name, for His glory. Andy we love you and are so proud of you making, serving God a priority in your life. Papa and Grammy send their love, and want you to know that they and your Aunts and Uncles are all keeping you and the team wrapped in prayer. Looking forward to seeing the new posts and hearing more fully about all that you did there. Grace and Peace, and lots of Love, Dad & Mom

Greetings to the team and my first-born! Praying and praising the Lord for all that He wills in each member of the team and their journey along the way in Jamaica. I continually pray that each team member be blessed and start the day with "This is the day that the Lord hs made, we will rejoice and be glad in it". Also praying that gifts and talents of the Lord within each one you are magnified and used to glorify our Savior Jesus! Peace, Love and Unity to ALL!!

I look forward to coming to this site every day to read about all the things you are doing there in Jamaica! I was especially excited to see pictures of the computer lab! It warms my heart to know that computers that were sitting here in my house collecting dust are being put to good use and helping the people there :) God is SOO good!! Stephanie - we love and miss you! We're taking good care of Jeff, making sure he gets a good meal at dinnertime! Haha! We're so excited about all you are doing there in Jamaica and can't wait to see how He continues to use all of you! You're in our prayers!!

Just want to say that we are still praying for everyone! Meg, we miss you and love you, but we are grateful that you are following the Lord's leading, and we are trusting Him to fulfill HIs purpose for you. We are trusting this for each of your team members, too. We are all still wearing our bracelets, so this is a good reminder to pray for the team - and Kelly, Shannon, and Steve, we are wearing bracelets with your names, so we especially pray for you!

It is with tear filled eyes that I read these journal entries! I am thankful to our Lord for bringing this team safely to Jamaica and giving them an awesome time already! We pray many times daily for God to do amazing things in the heart of not only the Jamaican people, but the teens that are on the trip! God has us specifically praying for Jon, Zach and Stephanie this week and we have not forgotten! Keep us posted each day as we love to read what is going on and would love to see more pictures too! Love in Christ, Cindy O'Brien

July 21, 2010 9:19 AM

Hello MBC Youth Mission Team!!!! I am wanted to say that I am proud of each one of you. Leaving the comfort of your home to help people in need is not something everyone does. To see this trait in a group of teens shows that there is hope for tomorrow's world! I am sorry that this year I could not attend the mission trip. With the move, the job assignment I am on, and attending graduate school there was just no possibility. I do miss my teen counterparts and wish I could be there with you. I miss you all! Take care, stay safe, and do good things! Remember don't eat chicken cooked on motor oil and cardboard! Mr. T.

Hey Guys, Just a quick note to let you know that all the nurses and doctors at the Sparta Surgical Center in NJ here at home got to hear about your trip and all you are doing to share the word of God in Jamaica! Mr Yak was asked to take his bracelet off before surgery today and he made a point of saying he couldn't and went on to share what you were doing and how proud he was of his children and the youth group (and adults) in general who were working in Jamaica this week!! There were lots of questions asked about our church, youth group and missions in general!! One of the nurses (Mary) is praying for you this week as well! Praise God for the opportunity to share about the Lord today and we realize we may not have had that opportunity if we did not have your bracelets on!! Jen and Steve, Dad did great with his surgery and can't wait to show you his immobilizer when you get home. Much Love!

Praises for a safe arrival, jobs well-done, a successful VBS and a well-fed team! All are in the thoughts, hearts and prayers of your MBC family... it was good to see so many braclets worn by the Milford congregation. Continued prayers for the Jamaican people, your effective ministry, continued safety, growing your faith and a clear vision of the path the Lord has laid out before you. Everyone looks forward to the next post and to hear more of your experiences serving Him. It feels odd knowing that there are more Ashworths in Jamaica than in Milford!

Just want to remind everyone on the team even though your doing GOD'S work don't forget to use sunscreen. God loves you.... but the sun does not so protect your skin. Make sure you use it every hour we don't want any sun poisoning when you come home. God bless you all. We will keep praying for you all. We love all of you.
