We made it!

by Caroline Bazin | January 1, 2017 11:08 AM

After spending the night at a school outside of Port-au-Prince last night, we drove the 4 hours to Granbouchi. It was a beautiful drive, but we are definitely glad we are here!

Welcoming in the New Year!

by Caroline Bazin | January 1, 2017 7:47 PM

After settling in and putting up our hammocks and our tents, we were invited to the community wide church event. Pastor Delcy anticipated a large crowd tonight, so we had service during the sunset and then under the stars! There ended up being 428 people in attendance! It was a beautiful time of worship. We sang many songs and heard testimonies of salvation from 2016 and hope for 2017. We are so excited to get deeper into the community tomorrow as we begin construction projects and kids ministry. Pray for us! May God do mighty things this week. Happy New Year!

Buckets on buckets on buckets

by Caroline Bazin | January 2, 2017 8:50 PM

We started our morning pouring a concrete floor for a family who's home was badly damaged during the hurricane in October. Some of us helped mix the concrete. Some filled the buckets. The rest of us made up the bucket line. We finished the two rooms that needed floors today!

The story of Daniel

by Caroline Bazin | January 2, 2017 8:55 PM

Jordan and Kathryn led the kids at VBS today. They shared the story of Daniel and his relentless faith despite all the hardships that came his way...like lions. The group did an awesome job acting out the story. Here is King Darius with some of the kids!

Soccer Tournament: Round 1

by Caroline Bazin | January 2, 2017 8:59 PM

We are so excited to be hosting a soccer tournament this week! It was obvious today that the kids are even more excited! Some of our group formed a team and joined in on the action. Did they win? No...but it was a close one!

Sifting Sand

by Caroline Bazin | January 3, 2017 8:28 PM

This morning we went to another house to do some concrete work. Right now the house is only foundation. By tomorrow, we are hoping that there will be a smooth concrete floor and outside walls up!

Beginnings of a Roof

by Caroline Bazin | January 3, 2017 8:35 PM

A few of us went back to the first house to help the owner put a roof over his home. This was hot, slow work, but it is such a privilege to help with this step in the process. Tomorrow we will help nail the tin. After that -- the family can move in!

Jonah

by Caroline Bazin | January 3, 2017 8:41 PM

Lydia led everyone in kid's ministry today. She shared the story of Jonah and the importance of obedience towards God. We all had fun acting and helping with the craft! Here is a picture of Jonah getting thrown overboard where he would then be swallowed by a whale!

Soccer Tournament: Round 2

by Caroline Bazin | January 3, 2017 8:46 PM

While the soccer tournament continued, many of us enjoyed simply sitting with the spectators. It has turned out to beat perfect intentional time with the people we are serving with this week. Plus, some of us girls got our hair braided. :)

Hanging Out!

by Caroline Bazin | January 5, 2017 11:52 AM

We've been spending our evenings doing a lot of fellowshipping. From singing, to talking, to yoga and playing relentless games of dice, it's been really fun getting to know each other.

It was such a privilege to work alongside the homeowner and his neighbors to put up this roof this week. We loved getting to know him alongside and his family!

Is that Lydia and Marlo on the same trip? Looking from my phone so picture is small. If so, it is bound to be an amazing reunion for the two of them as well as Rudy and Caroline. Keep doing good work, Pelicans! ???
